“Typical Italian place in the area”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 March 2014

Nice Italian food, rather pasta and pizza, nothing exceptional.
Nice small garden.
Looks a bit sunnier and the interior is better well-kept than the rest similar in the area. I guess it is a bit more recent.

“Reasonable Priced Italian Restaurant in EU Area of Brussels”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 February 2014

We were looking for somewhere to dine on a Sunday night in the Schuman area of Brussels and many restaurants were shut. Nevertheless we found a small Italian restaurant called Fanfan. There was one other couple in the restaurant so it was a really quiet evening. The welcome was warm and courteous. The restaurant seemed to be caught in a 1980s time warp and was just a little tired and felt like more of a lunch time establishment. Even the music was 1980s hits! The menu was fairly comprehensive and we didn't have starters. I had the fruits de mer and my companion had salade de crevettes. Both of which were really good. The fruits de mer was listed under the salads but didn't have any green salad only a selection of shell fish which was exactly what I wanted anyway and so it met my expectations. The price was reasonable but would I rush back there? Probably not unless I had another craving for fruits de mer or there was nowhere else open.

“Fanfan: good value and good food in the Schuman area of Brussels”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 October 2013

My family and I are regular visitors to Fan Fan. It is an agreable restaurant, the pizzas and pasta are excellent and good value. They also have some other good dishes. The service is always friendly and efficient. Another advantage is that it always seems to be open and is much less crowded and anonymous that the other pizzerias in the Schuman area, this because it is just a little bit further from the busiest areas. It is not a fancy upmarket restaurant and not the place for people-watching but a good place to have a good meal at reasonable prices.

“The food's fine, the garden's pleasant”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2013

The main advantage of this restaurant is that it always seems open - weekends, holidays, late in the evening. This is unusual in this area. The garden is also very pleasant, and the service is good. As to the food - we took a pizza and the veal fanfan - well it was fine. Nothing more, just fine. Not expensive either, 35 euros for 2 of us including water and 2 glasses of red wine. But it's not high kitchen, you won't be amazed, and this is certainly not Firenze or Bologna standard. On the other hand you will enjoy it, and we will be going back.

“Typical Italian-style food, but this isn't Italy”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 June 2013

This restaurant has a lovely rear garden for dining in warm weather which was full on the night we ate dinner there. Both my wife and I ordered the "menu of the day" which included fried cheese, minestrone soup, veal milanese with pasta, and ice cream for a relatively moderate price; however, the pasta was a bit overdone, the tomato sauce on it tasted like it came from a bottle, and the veal was so thin as to lose its flavor to the breading enveloping it. The service was good and the waiter was kind enough to bring us each a glass of lemoncello gratis at the end of the meal. The beer we started with was served warm, and the rose wine we ordered was served warm in an ice bucket filled not with ice but with warm water. What's up with that? The cost of all this was over US$75 which was too much, in my opinion, for what we received.
