A perfect location - a short walk between both central station and Grand Place (the center of town).

Stayed here for one night as a student on a budget.

Clean and decent - but not fabulous (hence why it is so cheap).

No elevator, so you have to appreciate climbing stairs.

We had an awesome view of the square, with lots of things happening in it.

Pretty good bang for the buck here, especially considering the awesome location. I'd stay here again.

Room Tip: If possible, get a room facing the square.

Having read all the (mostly positive) reviews of The Moon, I decided to give it a try. I was in Brussels for only two nights on a brief trip to attend a meeting there. The location is, indeed, fabulous, both with regard to the access to the central station (and thus the airport) and the sights to be seen and the moules to be eaten. As for the European capital where most of the meetings would be held, it's a healthy 20 minute walk in the morning. So no complaints on that front.

Where I was less than satisfied was the hotel itself. Well, it's a typical independent small hotel found in many cities in Europe. The room was quite shabby and I had a hard time getting the door to lock (at one point, some distracted neighbor actually opened it while I was inside); there's no elevator, so dragging any heavy items up the narrow staircase is a bit of a challenge; while the reception staff wasn't as bad as some reviewers have suggested, they were clearly no hotel professionals.

In sum, if your priority is to stay in a super convenient location and you don't care too much for the room comforts, then The Moon is an option. Mind you, it's no cheaper than the more comfortable standard chain hotels in the area, including across the same square.

Just stayed here. Great location. Right beside Central Railway Station overlooking
a very busy square with plenty of activity about. lovely bars and restaurants in the area.
Hotel was clean cheap and cheerful. Breakfast was basic but okay. Staff were friendly.
It would be okay for a night or two but not for a week as there was no seating lounge or bar.

We loved walking out of the train station into a charming little square and finding our hotel within a minute. There was a craft fair on the square that held our attention. The staff was efficient and the breakfast was very basic but adequate. Our triple room was acceptable, clean, quiet, but with low lighting. The wifi is excellent. We were thrilled to be able to walk to all our destinations. A decent price for the accomodations.

This was an ok hotel. You pay for location. Just 2 minutes from the central station and plaza espana, I'm not sure you can beat the location for the price.

The rooms are basic. Not terribly small nor spacious, they do the job if you are not planning on hanging out in the hotel too much.

Towels are provided which, is nice.

The staff is not by any means very helpful. In fact, i think one of them went out of their way not to help me. I asked for a restaurant recommendation and he said he could not give me one. There are many restaurants nearby and I would have believed him if he had said the one next door is the best in Belgium !

He sat chatting with his friend and seemed terribly annoyed when he had to get up to attend to anyone. They were also out of maps.

The gentleman the following morning was much more accommodating but overall I was less than impressed considering many Belgians seemed to be very friendly !

There is no lift ! I knew this beforehand but it truly is a pain.

The wifi is very good and works in every room on every floor !

You are allowed to smoke in the rooms and unfortunately the smell lingers.

You get more than you pay for at this "industrial grade" hotel. It is certainly economically priced, but with a style of accommodation to match. Small rooms with just the basic necessities. Its attraction, however, is its location, which is hard to beat. It is an easy 7-8 minutes walk from Brussels Central rail station and even closer to the magnificent Grand Place square. The hotel may at first be a little hard to find as its street front is just a doorway, although the name is written on the front of the building. While you can get there from the rail station along the sidewalks, the cobbles can make it hard going if you are pulling a rolling suitcase. The best way from the station is to go through the Galerie Horta mall, which has an entrance on the second level from the top in the station. By way of escalators and ramps, this will take you down to the level of the Grasmarkt. Exit into the roundabout between the Best Western Hotel and Novotel and The Moon Hotel is directly opposite.

Room Tip: If you stay on a Friday or Saturday, get a room at the back of the hotel. The market in the square o...

I normally stay in hostels but since I was staying in Brussels over holiday weekend all decent hostels were booked out and The Moon Hotel was the cheapest hotel I could find in a good location. Single room was quite large with desk, tv and cupboards. Free wifi was excellent. Decent breakfast included. No elevator. Friendly staff. Very close to central train station and Brussels old town (2 minutes walk each). Central station has direct trains to airport and intercity/international destinations. Also a metro station within central station, however it was closed the day I was there due to public transport strikes. No complaints about hotel but I'm used to paying much less in hostels rather than hotels.

Room Tip: ask for room on lower floors to avoid lots of stairs
