Me and my Husband have just returned back from this hotel, in our oppinion you can't go wrong with this hotel, the location is very central, the rooms are lovely, quite small and nicely decorated, it is boutique and quirky in style, just our style really - the bathrooms and shower were nice with big fluffy towels - the little kitchen unit was also an added extra so we had perculated coffee each morning before starting our day :) I can't comment on the breakfast as this wasn't included in our rate, but it just looked like a small continental one, we prefer to try local cafe's at breakfast time. 2 nights was definatley enough in this hotel and in Brussels - all in all I would reccomend!

Thanks for your positive review. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Downtown-BXL and that you recommend our B&B to other Trip Advisor travellers! Concerning breakfast (which of course can always be added in case it is not already included in the room rate), I would like to point out that we serve home-squeezed orange juice, coffee/tea/chocolate, bread/croissants, butter and several sorts of marmalade, eggs, yoghourts, ham/cheese/salami, fresh fruits, corn flakes/muesli. It is important for us that our future guests know what they can expect! Best regards, Théo.

It is conveniently situated near the metro (about 5 mins walk) and places of attraction such as the Grand Place and Manneken Pis (around 10 mins or less). If you are up for a longer walk (around 25-30 mins), you can even walk to the pedestrian shopping street, Rue Neuve. My partner and I managed to walk to a lot of places on foot in Brussels.

We stayed in the studio and it looks exactly like it does in the pictures. Therefore there was no disappointment in that aspect! It is furnished with a double bed, a lounge corner, bathroom and even a "mini-kitchen" (hidden behind a door) that has the most comprehensive equipment I've ever seen in a B&B. Quite impressed by that as it meant that we could have a meal indoors with proper utensils and all (environmentally friendly).

There was also a complimentary breakfast for us which was a very sweet gesture. They'd even ask you how you like your eggs done & I love that they have freshly squeezed orange juice! Not the type from the carton box. Yummers.

The staff were also friendly and helpful. The only downside is that there is no lift to any of the rooms and the staircase is very narrow. But there is no need for worry as the staff will gladly assist you to get it up to your room.

Overall, I'd definitely recommend this B&B to anyone who is heading for Brussels.

Great hotel in good location. Parking very close. Staff / owner very helpful and kind. Rooms large and very clean. Will stay here again, first choice.
Staircase tricky, particularly in heels, but was helped with luggage.
Thank you!

Stayed in BXL for two nights. It is located 5min walk from Grand Place in nice neighbourhood with plenty of bars and restaurants but away from the tourist chaos. Rooms are clean, modern and quiet. Great breakfast in the morning served with smile. Definitely would recommend.

My husband and I stayed at this bed and breakfast for two days in mid november. It is located a quick walk from the Brussels Central train station. Although we arrived prior to check in, we were permitted to store our bags until later. We were given our key and our room number and off we went. The location is near the main square and the manequin pis. As other reviewers have stated the stairs are very narrow, however we had not problems with them. Here are all the positives... our bed was extremely comfortable and our shower large with plenty of hot water, the sound proofing of the windows was excellend, it really does drown out the street noise below, breakfast was excellent with fresh squezed OJ, croissants made daily and a variety of meats, cheeses and eggs (if you wish), and finally the owners are welcoming, hospitable and helpful. The only negative is the stair case, but again it did not impact my trip. I loved our time at this b&b and would not hesitate to stay there again! There is no better value for your money.

Me and my wife stayed here in Mid November for 2 nights.

We walked from the Brussels Central Train Station, and were greeted by the lovely owner.
Who talked us through our trip and advised us of places to go and the do's and don'ts.

The owner helped my carry my wife's bag to the room.
Which was on the 4th floor.
It was very good excercise.
The room was lovely, very nicely decorated, and had a sitting area.
The bed was big and soft. The Windows were double glazed and so no noise came in through them.
The room also had a fridge and microwave and coffee making facilities.

The shower room was inviting and the shower was powerful and hot.

The Wi-fi in the room worked brilliantly too.

The Location is wonderful, down a little arty street with many cafe's on.
It is then only a few minutes walk to the Grand Place, and other roads all around with cafe's and bars on.
It felt very safe, walking back at night too.

And someone in another review mentioned the exterior door not locking.
But I guess the owner has fixed this, as it is now an automatically locking door.

Someone has also mentioned the bar next door, which was wonderful, and recommended by the Owner, and we too had our final drinks in there both nights.

Wonderful place, lovely stay and owner and we would stay again if we come to Brussels again.

Room Tip: ask for the 1st floor room....

My husband and I stayed at the Downtown BXL on 9/30/12 - 9/3/12. The owners are extremely nice and helpful. Breakfast is the traditional European style with excellent coffee and croissants. Out of our two week trip, the coffee was probably one of the best! One morning, they even made fresh squeezed orange juice. It was excellent!!

Our room was nice and cozy. We were worried that it would be loud, being in downtown, but we slept great. Noise was minimal. The location is great. We were walking distance from Grand Place, Central Station, and Midi Station.

Right next door is a little bar called Moeder Lambic that we fell in love with. We went there every night for one last beer before bed.

Our only complaint is that no one warned us of the Belgium Train Strike that was to start the day we were supposed to leave. We found out about it at 10pm the night before we were to leave because I was surfing the net. It would have been nice if the owners told us we needed to find other transportation to Germany, but no one said anything.

It was extremly frustrating, trying to get out of the country. We will most likely never return to Belguim because of this. This is not the fault of the hotel, but according to the locals, the trains strike frequently, even over holidays. If you go to Belgium on a Rail Pass, be warned...the trains will probably go on strike!!! We spent long, horrible hours in the smelly bus station, waiting for our very late bus to take us to Germany.

One other complaint against Belgium...when we arrived, we spent 2 HOURS WAITING to get through security at the airport. It was HORRIBLE. Kids were puking and the smell just lingered because no one from the airport cleaned it up. Parents had to use their baby wipes to get it off the floor. It was worse than waiting for the bus. For these two reasons, we will probably never return to Belgium.

If you go, I do recommend staying in this hotel. Just don't fly into Brusses and don't plan on taking the trains or be sure to have other tranportation options.
