Hotel Orts has a great location in Brussels. It's across the Street from the Marriott, which was the host hotel for a conference I was attending. It's about half the price of the Marriott. This of course in NOT a Marriott, but as a small boutique hotel it has a very nice feel. The hotel has just 15 rooms.

My room (308) was large by European standards. A single queen sized bed. The bath was large as well, with a decant sized shower stall and plenty of hot water and water pressure.

The hotel is small and appears to be family owned/operated. The bar on the first floor is owned by them as well. I'll review it later. The hotel is overall nice but it has a few quirky characteristics. Spotty/ erratic internet ( but free!). Two lamps didn't work upon checking in, but we're immediately fixed. One had burned out bulb, the other just needed tightened (I assumed it was out). The hotel staff also doubles at times as the adjoining restaurant staff as well. So they may be attending to the restaurant at off-hour times. The lobby is small, virtually non-existent, but you really don't need one here, and it literally adjoins the restaurant. I found the staff to be quite accommodating and friendly. It's a bit quirky as I said, but it's very clean and very comfortable.

My friend was in room 309. Her room was smaller, and her bath was considerably smaller than mine. Both had new dark hardwood flooring rather than carpet, and both rooms were nicely decorated

Some reviews mentioned noise was a factor. I was concerned about that but it wasn't a problem for me. Most noise is street noise ( it's a popular area of town, and Belgians are noisier than Parisians. They seem to use the car horns regularly, but not "laying on them", however. if the car ahead doesn't move immediately after a signal turns green, the car behind "will let you know".

Don't forget to bring your own wash cloths or body scrubber! European hotels generally do not provide them!

Pros...

Very clean.
Comfortable bed.
Good location. 1-2 minute walk to metro station.
A 10 minute walk to the Grand Palace area where there is beautiful architecture, and great and abundant dining in a quintessential classic European atmosphere. Don't miss out on going there!

Room Tip: Ask to seethe room, but with only 15 rooms available, you might not be able to negotiate a change.

We stayed at the Hotel Orts for 5 days in September. The people at the front desk were very pleasant and friendly. We were very pleased with our room. It was very clean and comfortable. Large actually for Europe. The bathroom very spacious. We had two Juliet balconies in the room and it had a great view of the Bourse when you poked stepped out. We ate once at the hotel for dinner and the food was very good. comparable in price to other restaurants but better quality then the touristy street around the train station. The Mussels were great!! The hotel is very close to a subway station that we used but we actually found the city very walkable. My only complaint was that on our first
night, Belgium beat Scotland at a soccer game and the noise and partying outside the hotel was horrific. The yelling singing and music prevented any sleep and then at 4 am the street cleaning machine came. I would stay at the hotel again as it was wonderful but the noise from the bar next door on party night was something we would never forget.

Room Tip: ask for a room away from the bar next door

Stayed here 3 nights, room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Access to rooms was via a lift - no stairs for a change - and breakfast each morning was very nice. Is very central to most of the main attractions and within easy walking distance. Station, Metro and restaurants are all close by.

Room Tip: You'll have no trouble get around Brussels from here

I was very pleased with my stay at Hotel Orts. It's located in a great area with lots of fashionable shops. It seems to be right on the edge between the more touristy section of Brussels (close to the Grand Palace) and an area with more locals, so you get the best of both worlds. The hotel itself was clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. Peter, the owner, greeted us when we came in and walked us up to our room, even taking the time to show us how to work the TV and where the English stations were. The room was a reasonable size and had two(!) balconies with nice views. The bed was an actual full bed (not two twin beds pushed together). The included breakfast was really good (mmm...pain au chocolat!). The only complaint I'd have would be that the hairdryer was seriously weak.

We needed a place to stay overnight in Brussels,we tried 4/5 hotels near bye including the ibis,Marryat ect they wanted 240/270 euros for 3 people in one room or wanted to charge for 2 rooms! We passed this place heading back to car! The owner was lovely nothing was too much trouble and put another bed in twin room, 140 euros and was the best room we'd had on our road trip up to Amsterdam and back thru Brussels to calais! The room was well decorated, had nice furnishings and the ensuite bathroom was best wed had been in! Bar downstairs did good food and had good beers and to top it all was about 100 metres from grand palace! Clean, friendly and cheaper than a lot of others! It's a no brainer!

Room Tip: Owner very friendly, if you don't ask you don't get!

Booked hotel after reading great reviews. The hotel is in an excellent location close to grand palace which was fantastic over Christmas period, breckfast leads alot to be desired, and there is a funny smell in the downstairs pub. The rooms were nice and hotel was decorated nicely for Christmas . Came home one evening at 12.30 difficult waiting for night porter to open and questioning for a few minutes before letting us in. Reasonable hotel but the little things let it down

Hotel Orts was great. It's in a great location that's almost perfectly located in the centre of the action. There are restaurants, shopping, and the Grand Place all within a five-minute walk. The hotel room itself was very nice and well-furnished. The price was great too.

The only downside is that it's located right above a bar, and there are a lot of bars in the area. So... it was quite loud all night. The bars don't close until people are ready to go home, which is usually around 4:00 AM or 5:00 AM.

It was still a great hotel though; one that we'd definitely recommend.
