There can't be many restaurants that welcome their guests so affably. Almost everyone who comes through the door is greeted as an old friend, and this is probably because most of them really are: the clientèle seems to consist almost entirely of regulars. It's a neighbourhood Italian restaurant, not really on the tourist trail, serving mainly locals, many of whom are actually of Italian origin, always a good sign. It's not the best Italian food in Brussels, it's not the cheapest Italian food in Brussels either, but we return time and time again, like ClaireinBrussels, because the people are so friendly and obliging, the food is tasty and well presented and the portions are generous. We run a B&B in the neighbourhood and have sent many guests there, all of whom returned replete and happy. And as Claire writes, the digestif is on the house once they recognize you.

We consider ourselves lucky to have La Selva about 3 minutes' walk from our house. Like reviewer CCP1979, we also enjoy Napoli, on Avenue Chazal nearby, but we find the pizza at La Selva is much better.
There's nothing like dropping into La Selva after coming home from a trip, when there's not much in the fridge and you're tired. It's cozy, the staff is super friendly and attentive, there's a nice buzz, and the food is very good indeed. The "tortellini in brodo" starter is just right when you don't want too much to eat but you need warming up! As usual in Brussels, once you start appearing regularly, the after-dinner digestif is offered on the house.

If you are looking for excellent Italian cuisine and wine, you should try La Selva. Service is great and the people are very warm. You can even watch them make fresh pizza go inside a brick oven! And don't forget to ask for limoncello after dinner. Price is not expensive but it is not cheap either. If you are looking to have a nice quite dinner, this might just be the place.

We went here a few times this year and it's reasonably priced for what it is, but there are better Italian restaurants nearby (I recommend the Napoli restaurant over this one). The staff are friendly but the pizzas lacking in taste and the brightly lit restaurant lacks a bit in ambiance. All in all, it's OK and if we didin't have other great restaurants in the neigbourhood we would probably go more often. You won't regret it but you won't be rushing back either!

The food is good, just a bit too salty for me, but tasty.
The staff is very friendly, the place is nice but nothing special, prices are reasonable.
