Expensive ... perhaps. Beautiful ... certainly. Ideal for a family stroll ... And the tea ceremony is a must !

“A small but Wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 April 2014

It's a piece of garden in Hasselt with a Japanese Theme. It's amazing place to visit during spring; We were a little too late for the blossoms. Koi fishes are gigantic and vibrant in color. A must visit garden for those who loves gardens.

“Overpriced, small garden that's not very well maintained”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2014

Bearing in mind that this Japanese Garden is supposed to be one of the largest in the world, outside Japan of course, it's size is disappointing. Walking at a slow pace and reading al info, you can get around in less than an hour.
I enjoy free entrance and have been here several times, and the water in the tiny lake is always very dirty. There's a nice ceremonial house by the lake, but you can only walk through a small corridor to gaze at the interior.
I therefore find the regular entrance fee of € 7 too high.

“Disappointing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2014

The visit was disappointing, probably because we were expecting a quiet place with plenty of plants, garden elements etc.

The trees are nice, but you can find them in many places.
Traffic noise is very disturbing, absolutely not relaxing at all.
And the garden is fairly small. Walking at a slow pace and watching the fishyou do the tour in less than 30 minutes.
If you are in the neighbourhood, have a peek (although 5 € is overpricing). But wouldn't do a detour

“relaxing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 November 2013

In my city, Hasselt, they built a very nice Japanese Garden! Even people from Japan came hier to built it and it's unique in his kind! It's situated just out off town next to the golfcours! You can even buy some fishfood there to feed the fish! They even come and eat the food out off your hand! Nice experience and the garden is nicely set and beautifull to walk through and you can take nice pictures there! That is something that newly wed couples do and kids who take there communions too! There is a special thee arrangement you can even try out, but you have to book it in advance!
