Hotel l'Espion is a sister hotel of hotel La Maison; those hotels are situated in two merchants houses on St. Remacle Square. As you can see on the pictures, hotel La Maison is on the left and hotel l'Espion is on the right. The two hotels are connected inside, have a common management and the reception and restaurant in hotel La Maison serves both hotels. With hotel l'Espion is nothing wrong. What more do you want for a quiet weekend in the Ardennes? Hotel l'Espion has 6 rooms, 3 per floor. The room is of course a converted room in the big merchant house, with a (unused) fireplace. The bathroom is put in later of course and occupies a part of the original room, but leaves plenty of room for sleeping quarters. The room is clean, quiet, the bathroom is spotless and there are ample towels. A flat screen TV with DVD player is present. The service at the reception is professional; housekeeping is dedicated also in small gestures, like folding my pajamas. The hotel is situated on a quiet square in Stavelot with free parking on the square. Two remarks: The hot water is not that hot. I had to turn the faucet almost to the hottest position to have a comfortable shower. Furthermore, we experienced a brief power cut, so it is better to bring a torch. (A torch is of course always useful when traveling). Summarizing: Hotel l'Espion is a safe bet for a comfortable stay in a quiet village in the Ardennes and a base for day trips.
