“A very special hotel and restaurant”
Reviewed 25 June 2010

We stayed two times in this very cosy hotel.
Another reservation is made for a weekend in september.
The hotel is situated along the river Meuse.
It is very close to the several divingsites in the Ardennes.
The speciality of the restaurant is Sardinian, as the owners wife is from Sardinia.
We have got very personal attention, when we celebrated a birthday a birthday cake has been made for us.

Our recently refurbished room was large, well furnished, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also large and well equipped.
The owners gave excellent service, nothing was too much trouble. We were given a complementary drink on arrival and complementary bottled water in our room. We walked into Dinant along the riverside (3km) and the owner insisted we ring him if we required a lift back. He was very kind.
The food was really good, both dinner and breakfast.
Everything was lovely so it's hard to choose something we liked best, maybe the roast lamb we had for dinner. Similarly to choose something we liked least is difficult. There was a railway line between the hotel and the river but it was not a problem for us. There was no noise in the hotel.

Nicely situated 5 minutes by car (or you can walk it) from the main town. Free parking available outside. Very nice, big rooms. Good, plentiful breakfast. Evening meals available in lovely dining room at weekends.Vincent, the manager, just couldn't do enough for us. Drove us into and picked us up from Dinant so we could have a drink with our meal at restaurant La Broche(highly recommended but make sure you book). Vincent only allows a maximum of 10 guests at any one time so everyone is assured of his best attention. All in all a very pleasent experience and one we hope to repeat in the future.

I hate writing a lot, so I'll keep it short. This hotel has a heart, a story, and is run by a couple of dedicated owners.
Go and see it for yourself, I can't wait to go back.

Having read such glowing testimonials on TripAdvisor, I emailed St Vincent asking for a 7 day booking in a room which afforded access to my wife, who has limited mobility. St Vincent sent a brusque response declining our booking as the hotel did not cater for disabled guests. Fair enough. However my wife can manage stairs so long as they are not too many or too steep. I responded to St Vincent pointing this out and asking either for a booking or if he could recommend another more suitable hotel in Dinant. My email has been ignored.
Glowing references notwithstanding, I suspect an element of false bonhomie.
To enter these comments it has been necessary for me to enter a date of stay at this hotel. I have no intention to deceive. I have never stayed there and never will.

My wife and I were doing a tour of Belgian abbeys, starting in Dinant. We called Vincent from Brussels, and said we were on our way to Dinant. I mentioned that we wanted to attend a beer festival about 5 miles north of their hotel.
Vincent picked us up at the train station, then proceded to drop us off at the festival, and took our bags to the hotel. He asked that we call him when we were finished, and he would pick us up.
That evening, we had dinner at their restaurant, prepared by the his sister, the chef. The restaurant gets a "10" for bread and circuses. We sat in front of the fireplace, while course after course was delivered. Included was cured ham and a terrific red wine, which he brings back from his wife's family home in Sardinia.
The hotel is slowly being renovated; restored wide plank wooden floors, oak beams, and a modern bathroom, makes it a relaxing and romantic stay.
The next morning after breakfast, Vincent volunteered to take us to Namur, where we
had arranged to pick up our rental car.
All we can say; as a hotel proprietor who understands travelers needs, Vincent "gets it".

I've been meaning to write this review for a while. We stayed in Dinant while doing a beer tour around Belgium. Vincent was the most amazing host who made our stay just amazing. He does everything he can to make you feel welcome, and we spent hours enjoying a fascinating chat with him. On our last day he even helped us package up beer we were posting home!

The location is not the greatest (you will need to drive to get to Dinant, although there is a very good pizza place a short walk away), but it is quiet and pleasant. A nice place to get some rest after a busy day.
