We stayed at the Hancelot for 4 nights in July on the recommendation of friends who had stayed there this winter and had a great time. It absolutely met our expectations and then some. Other folks have talked about the convenience, and I can't add much there, other than to say that we were very glad to be out of the center because when we arrived it was during the Gentse Fest, which is 2 weeks of free music and activities (and crowds) in the old city. Being at the Hancelot meant we could walk to the fest as we wanted, but didn't have any bother with crowds or noise--a plus since my GF is a light sleeper!

The owners and staff were incredibly helpful with directions, ideas on where to eat, where to get good beer, etc. They run the place really professionally, and everything worked the way it should. The breakfast was excellent, and helped us get the day started. The only nit I can find is that a second bar of soap would have been nice (note that we didn't ask for it, and if we had, I'm sure it would have arrived).

The building is gorgeous and the room was very "old European" romantic. We would definitely go back to the Hancelot, and recommend it to others.

Indeed we are 10 minutes walking from the hisorical city centre or you can take the tram which has a stop at the end of the street where our Charm Hotel is located. Best buy tickets at the train station or in a newspaper shop: it saves you 60% of the price instead of buying the ticket in the tram itself. Charm Hotel Hancelot is located around the corner of the by Unesco selected Begijnen Hof, is also 5 minutes walking from the St Pieters Square with its beautifull Abbey, 10 minutes walking from the cinema complex, the main Theatre Capitol around the corner and in between all the large parks of the city centre. A very good location to explore and experience Ghent! Thank you for your compliments on breakfast, service and atmosphere and we are looking forward to welcome you again!

We stayed at Hancelot in July and can recommend it . The hotel is really very well located and the servi was uotstanding. My husband fell ill and we didn't know what to do. The lady at reception went out of her way to find a doctor to have a look at him . After seven calls she got hold of an doctor nearby and we could get medcine for him. She also heped us to get a chemist and get to the station after this bad experience. We are very thanful for all this effort she put in.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in May 2012. The hotel is in a great location, about a 10 minute walk from the historic center, or a 5 minute tram ride. The tram stop is right on the end of the street the Hancelot is on so it is very easy and convenient to take the tram. We mostly walked and didn't consider it too far. The staff were friendly and very welcoming and provided a good introduction to the city. We arrived late morning having come straight from the Brussels airport and were exhausted and wanting our beds but the room was not ready. The staff member on duty was really kind though, and brought us something to eat and gave us some info on the city, and from there we went out and spent a couple hours looking around. If we go there again and expect to come straight from an overnight flight, I would email ahead and ask if an early check-in would be possible. The hotel is beautiful, especially the breakfast room. We stayed in one of the basic rooms on the third floor -- it was very nice, spacious and comfortable. I would definitely recommend staying here, it was convenient to the historic section with a more affordable price. The only caveat I would have is that there is no elevator. Our room was on the third floor but it was more steps up than one would expect -- I think I counted 70 or so? This was not a problem for us but I kept wondering what one would do if you couldn't handle the stairs. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was great. We took advantage of the free wifi, although coverage was a little spotty in our upper level room. We really loved Ghent and have great memories of this charming hotel.

One of the best places we have stayed at this price point. Fabulous property with original features and well thought out in its present use. Extremely attentive staff who knew what they were doing and were real experts on Gent and its restaurants. Excellent breakfast, good quality throughout.

Room Tip: Top floor is a long climb but all rooms are very pretty.

A warm welcome, great atmosphere, and your car parked 'in-house' (max. 3 cars). Look at the photos, and see what you get: a really large room( most of hem), and modern bath-room. All our questions about the city centre (not really nearby, we took a cab at 10 euro) were answered with great detail, and a drink came with it. Beware, the hotel has no elevator, so getting your luggage up higher than the 1st floor might be somewhat of a challenge, depending your age (we are 60+). The rooms at the 1st floor are a treat; yes, the wooden floor makes noise, as does the school yard at the back (only half an hour, and not in a way that was disturbing to us (with the double windows closed). We recommend it highly, and will book again without hesitation when being in the surroundings. Breakfast was fine.

Room Tip: Stay at he first floor, if possible, no elevator available... (not even allowed by the municipallity as it would disturb the originallity of the place.

Thank you for your kind words. In total we have six parking places which can be reserved beforehand and cost € 12,50 per overnight stay (from 12:00 hrs on the day of check-in till 12:00 hrs on the day of check-out) There are three places beside the hotel and three parking places at a few minutes walking from the hotel. The old historical city centre is 10 to 15 minutes walking from the hotel. It is a nice walk: the park on one side and the old town houses on the other side. After that you will get into a nice shopping-street with lots of restaurants and boutiques and you will already see the tower of the Cathedral. You have chosen to take a taxi, however you can also take the tram number 4 which has a stop at 100 meters from the hotel. Three stops and you are at the Cathedral.
Glad to hear that you will book us again! That is a very nice compliment.
