Like other reviews, we came upon this place by strolling through Ghent. It's a busy little cafe in an otherwise quiet location. The service is great, friendly and quick. Lots of homemade snacks, cakes, soups to stop for a light lunch as well as breakfast. We only had time to stop for a coffee but others were enjoying the food which looked good. Bed & breakfast available too.

Came upon this place by accident in our hungry wanderings and couldn't have been happier. Modest prices, wonderfully creative soup and sandwich, the cappuccino was done with an artist's touch, and the staff quite friendly!

We stumbled upon this cafe on a cold windy afternoon & thought we had 'discovered' it ourselves, turns out it's on loads of maps & tourist info points because this place is awesome!
We had an aperol the evening we 'discovered' Simon Says-try the Romer pronounced something like rumour on English, & enjoyed the refuge from the rain. The guys working there were great! We got talking to them & they recommended a great place for dinner afterwards.
We came back on Sunday for our morning coffee - the place was jam packed! Literally bursting at the seams, we somehow managed to score a seat as we arrived right as someone was leaving. The coffee was delicious, quite possibly one of the best cups of coffee I have ever had. The breakfast being served looked delish, we had sadly, already eaten so we didn't have breakfast, just a coffee.
We walked here from the city centre & did some window shopping on the way there & back. This place is a must visit when in Ghent!

Great place. Simon, Alex, MJ, and the rest of the guys (and the cat) in the cafe always made us welcome whenever we appeared and ensured we had enough to eat and drink at brekky. And they even serve soy cafe lattes - heaven for me. These people really know how to make coffee and you cannot imagine how wonderful that is after travelling for six weeks.
Our room was clean and had been refitted with modern fixtures, there was a very comfortable king size bed and space to open up our suitcases. The windows are not double glazed and there was a bit of noise at night mainly from people talking as they walked along the street below. Ear plugs are provided but we didn't need them. Some Tripadvisor comments indicated there was noise from the nearby tram but we only heard it a couple of times during the day.
We could not have asked for a better location to explore Ghent. It is a short walking distance to most places and we only ever caught a tram when we were going to the gare or fine arts museum.
People looking for a place to stay should be aware that the two guestrooms are up two very narrow sets of stairs. This was not a problem for the guys and MJ but we trod quite carefully going up and down!
We just loved watching the cafe scene at Simon Says. It's really alive. And to add weight to my comment about their breakfast and coffee making abilities - on Sunday morning we counted 15 people hovering outside waiting for them to open.
Thanks everyone at Simon Says for those brekkies, the fantastic coffee and our wonderful experience with you.

Just loved Ghent and Simon Says. We arrived via Tram #4 (should have taken Tram #1) from the train station about 7pm. Simon and Chris opened the door and carried up our luggage even before we rang the bell! The room was lovely and quiet, and the bath fabulous. The beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was super modern and had great plush towels! We felt so welcome at breakfast - the entire cafe staff was super helpful and friendly. And YUM!! Simon gave us great dinner ideas to local restaurants.

A wet day in Ghent and happened upon this place following a guidebook recommendation. Place really busy so had a short wait for atable as we wanted to eat lunch but they foudn us a chair and served us drinks - Altogether made to feel very welcome. It's a place busy with people clearing enjoying atmosphere and first class service. We had their club sandwich, such lovely bread and so freshly made. Lingered quite a long time over a few glasses of wine - well it was raining and we had got to feel very comfortable! The staff all smile, are all extremely helpful and I guarantee you will want to linger - short menu but all appetising. Recommended.

We just spent an absolutely marvellous surprise weekend at Simon Says. Excellent location for the Gentse Feesten -- not too much noise but very close to the city centre and restaurants. Lovely, super clean rooms on a cosy square and a truly amazing breakfast. Simon as well as the coffee bar's waiters have their way of treating you like their special guest -- no need to say we felt very welcome right from the start. Don't hesitate, just book your weekend now!
