“Great location with a good meal at normal prices”

Amazing view on the Graslei! Food is good, but not exceptional. Good service. Note: I don't think the picture matches this place. That's probably another place with the same name. This place look nicer. Overall, a good choice amongst many good choices on the famous Graslei in Ghent.

“Definitely worth a visit.”
Reviewed 12 July 2013

Just went there tonight for dinner. Have been there many times in the past 3 months. Food was always delicious. To night got a lovely surprise, to find the restaurant inside had been refurbished. and looked amazing. It had a womans touch to it as it had a lovely flower, and a candle lit on each table. All it needs now is a nice lick of paint and that should finish it of nicely Lovely girl served it. She even put a match to the fire as it was a chilly evening. Will definitely go back on a regular basis. Worth a visit. Jane and Tom.

“Dear tourists be aware...”
Reviewed 1 May 2013

Labour day, sunny noon... Terrace wasn't fully filled... But we had to wait ages for our food... Which wasn't tasty: badly baked fries and ribs which had some flavour thanks to the 'sauce' and some vegetables such as not very cispy salad, some slice of tomato and cucimbre without any vinaigrette or so...
Waited again a whole while to get our bill.
This was our first and last visit to this place.

“Hidden view”
Reviewed 27 February 2011

Stumbled accross this restaurant on Friday night - we'd not booked anywhere and found that most restaurants were fully booked - so were surprised to find that this one not only had tables, but that it was almost empty! Shown up to the top floor, we were given a table with fantastic views out over the canal - a great location! The food was excellent - our first meal in the city - good sized portions, well cooked and a varied menu - we had starters: homemade goats cheese tart with roquette and shrimp croquettes, mains: cajun baked salmon and a huge irish steak and desserts: mixed fruit crumble and profiteroles (around 8 filled with chocolate cream) - water and two jugs of house wine brought the total to 100€ - good value we thought. The waitress we thought excellent - very helpful - although, as first time visitors in Ghent, when we asked whether service was included in bills in Belgium - she said no (perhaps through ingorance?) so we tipped 15% - and continued tipping over the rest of our stay - be warned - Belgian restaurants include services in their prices - tips should only be small!

“A nice place for a respite”
Reviewed 25 February 2010

On a recent outting to Gent, Belgium my brother and I stopped here for lunch. Den Enghel is an Irish Pub and Resturant located along the banks of the river Lys canal, among beautiful medieval guild houses not far from the Marriott Hotel and near many historic sites. The establishement has three bars on two floors, and the dining area is on the first floor behind a huge fireplace. The restrooms are upstairs. The stairs are a little steep, not unusual of European establishments. We had the set menu, three courses for 15 Euros. Starter, Main and Dessert. Salad and a side dish accompanied the Main Entree. The dining area was spacious, spotless and the help very pleasent. We had a very relaxing and delicious lunch. I look forward to visiting Gent again and trying out dinner next time.
