Have just spent a long weekend here with friends.
Service is very good, breakfast is great and varied, rooms are very comfy-a difficult hotel to fault-just go for it.
Reasonable value too--situation makes it all worthwhile, in the centre of Historic Gent.

On arrival we were given a room which was lovely, unfortunately it was near to the elevator, near to the restaurant door and directly over the entrance (where people smoke). I immediately realised this could be noisy and being a light sleeper went straight to reception and asked to be moved. This was dealt with without any fuss and we were given an identical room but overlooking a concrete courtyard. This was fine with us, how long do you spend looking out of the window on a city break anyway?! The reception staff were fab as were the bar staff. The superior room we had was large with a huge bed and very clean. A better shower would be my only criticism. Check out was swift. All in all a really nice stay in a city you could fall in love with.

We visited here a couple of years ago for the first time since it became an NH and I wasn't very impressed. On arrival this time I was even less impressed, as the 'superior' room we booked (the best available online) was very 'inferior'. A quick return to reception and the problem was sorted with a de luxe room becoming available after all - as these things often are when you offer to pay extra.

it was a nice room, with an odd layout that meant we had no wardrobe but instead a corridor between the bathroom and bedroom was for hanging clothes and making drinks. Strange, but interesting.

Staff are friendly enough and there's a good bar. But - the charm and personal touches that made this a cut above the usual chain hotel as a Sofitel is still lacking. Surely at this level wifi should be free throughout, rather than just in the lobby? And decent room service should be available more than at lunchtime and early evening?

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are better, at the front have good views. Take your pick.

Arrived late & left early - very short stay but was impressed. My room was in executive area - long maze-like walk from lifts.

Great hotel in the center of the old city! Parking garage under the hotel, you can walk straight in the lobby after parking! For 15 euro a day that is a great service.
We had a very comfy room, modern, clean and airy and rather large for a city hotel room!
There is WIFI and airco and very very comfy beds and bathroom.
The breakfast is a bit pricy ...but great valua formoney except the cooked breakfast which was not really warm . Coffee, espresso, hot chocolat etc etc...many types of rolls and stuffings and all well presented and good quality!
I would certainly go there again...location is spot on!

Room Tip: Book in advance!!!!!
