We stayed one night with our family of 4 in this hotel for a short visit to Gent. We had a superior room with connecting doors. The superior rooms are newly furbished and look rather nice. They were clean and well equipped and spacious with good beds. In both rooms there was no view at all (well... a wall). To be honest, we expected a little more for a superior room, but everything was fine. The ladies at the reception were very friendly except one lady... We asked here how the weather would be (if it was necessary to take our umbrellas) and she just replied: I don't know, I am not a weathergirl. Anyway, the hotel is situated in the heart of the center of Gent and that is a big plus. You can park your car just underneath the hotel for EUR 16,- per day. Breakfast was fine: all you can ask for: coffee, tea, eggs various styles, fresh fruit, danis pastry, various kind of breads, yoghurt, juices etc. etc. And everything tasted fresh and good. We can recommend the NH Belfort Hotel absolutely for a trip to Gent.

We had a fantastic stay in Gent in this comfortable and well located hotel. The attractions of Gent are all within walking distance and the trams stop nearby if you don't fancy a walk. The breakfasts are delicious and will set you up for most of the day as they are an 'all you can eat' buffet. We have stayed in this hotel many times and will do so again if NH address one issue.

It's the wifi. The free wifi is very slow and has a limited download amount (which to be fair we didn't reach, but you couldn't watch YouTube (for example) on a connection this slow so you are unlikely to reach the limit unless you get vast amounts of email, maybe). It is not acceptable to have to pay for decent wifi in an hotel of this standard, especially in view of the fact that Starbucks give it away with a cup of coffee and that many smaller, independent, hotels offer decent, unrestricted, wifi as a matter of course.

NH have form for this. They used not to have free wifi in private areas, just 30 minutes free in the (admittedly very comfortable) reception area. Now they have free but poor wifi in private areas. Come on NH, why don't you just do as almost every other hotel we have stayed in on the continent do and offer free, fast, unrestricted wifi? This is the 21st century now, after all!

I was their in October 2009 for a medical conference. It is a nice Hotel, small Business center, small bathroom, few restaurants, the view from the rooms was not impressive, i think it is a good choice as 4 star hotel.

This hotel was in a great location!! It was right In the city center
They let us check in early. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. We enjoyed the late night room service. That was a big plus. Only down side was the price due to it being Christmas and breakfast not being included. Other than that I would highly recommend this hotel.

We parked our car up on arrival and did not use it once during our 4 day stay in this historic and beautiful city. All the main attractions are literally on the doorstep- we visited the castle, took a boat ride, climbed the belfort and enjoyed the shopping.
Gent is a great place to visit in December, when the Christmas market is on - again, this, and the seasonal outdoor ice rink are located very close to the hotel. We loved the range of produce and the mulled wine. We did take a train to Bruges one day for 7.50 return (cheaper and easier than driving and parking) but, in our opinion, Gent was much nicer, far less congested and less commercialised.
The hotel is comfortable. We had a superior room with a living area and found it relaxing. The hotel was full but well insulated. Wifi worked well. The reception staff were very helpful and pleasant. Breakfast offers a good choice of hot and continental foods, including a waffle maker.

Location: Great! Near to attractions and shopping areas.

Room: Decent size but old. Bed is sinking and uncomfortable. Pillows too soft. Not soundproof and quite noisy.

Wifi: good connections.

Value: can find better rooms elsewhere. Not value for money.
