A fine four star hotel situated in the prime location of central Ghent right next to St Bavo’s Cathedral and other major amenities. The position couldn’t be any better to explore history and culture of this fascinating medieval city.

Standard rooms are relatively spacious, decorated in minimalist modern style and generally very comfortable. Not particularly fancy, but definitely good for the price. Breakfast is fine and plentiful too.

There is also a garage car park.

On the whole, probably one of the best places to stay in Ghent.

This is an ideal location for bars and walking around the town of Ghent. We walked down to the old town alongside the waterfront in the evening where there are many top class restaurants to choose from.
The beds are comfortable and the double rooms are quiet ensuring a good night's sleep.
Prebooked Room rate 121.20 Euros.

My partner and I have just returned from a long weekend to Ghent and we stayed at the NH Gent Belfort due to reading some of the great reviews on here. I'm happy to report we had a great time. The package we found included Eurostar travel and a free upgrade to a superior room.

The room was large and modern, bed was massive and super comfortable, plenty of storage space, LCD TV with free international channels (inc UK) or pay view. Large bathroom with bath and shower – the only let down for a hotel of this class was the shower. Not much pressure and getting it to spray straight was a challenge. Also, if you shower at busy times ie, 8-9am/6-7pm the water can sometimes fluctuate between hot and cold for a few seconds. More of an annoyance than a major problem! The hotel staff were wonderful, very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. They are also currently doing an offer for an extra 15euros pppn you can upgrade to their top rooms and they'll include the mini bar for free. We chose not to and were more than happy with the superior room.

Breakfast is served from 6am–11am (12noon on sundays) and it's plentiful!!! There's a massive buffet with everything you could want: cereals, fruit, cold meats, bread, croissants, cooked breakfast (ie Scrambled eggs/bacon/sausages/tomatoes) and some FAB pancakes with Maple syrup (a must try!). One tip – get there before 9.30 or they'll be a queue for the buffet, however everything is replenished frequently so they don't run out!

The hotel also has a Sauna and Gym which you can enter using your room card. Unfortunately we didn't read the info in the room that told us about it!! The Sauna was open 24hrs – if we had known we would've tried it out but that was our fault!

The location is excellent, a stones throw from the main square and a short walk to everything worth seeing. The restaurants in Ghent are fantastic, but do book in advance as you will find most places are booked up if you just turn up. One place I'd highly recommend is "Le Petite Restaurant – Juniper" in the Pattershol district. Great food, excellent value set menu (which we chose) and they give you a few little unexpected extras included in the price - highly recommended.

All in all we enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it for a quality comfortable stay at a reasonable price.

Firstly I should say that the location is brilliant. When we checked in we were offered the chance to upgrade from a superior room to an executive room for an additional 15Euros a night, this we did. The room was great although it's a hell of a long walk from reception. What they didn't tell us is that at around 6am each morning the dustcart turned up and woke us up - the noise was unbeliveable. The 'free mini bar' was actually 2 small tins of beer and 2 soft drinks.
The thing that really turned me off was breakfast - on Sunday it was a crazy rush to find an (uncleaned table) - the breakfast was pretty ordinary and they had run out of many things. On the Monday morning, things were a lot quieter, the breakfast the same - but the price had risen from 15 to 21 Euros! I kind of got fed up with the cost of things (14.50 for a sandwich at the bar for example) and decided that I would never stay there again.

After booking this hotel on Late Rooms - we were warned by friends and others not to visit Gent due to it not being the most interesting place to visit (putting it politely!) We are so so glad we did not listen to them! We found the hotel with ease with the help of the trusty sat nav. Parking situated under the hotel at £15 a day. A little confusion with checking in as they could not at first find our reservation, for the inconvenience we were upgraded to a deluxe.
Room was excellent large bathroom sitting area - we are to say a little disappointed with the fact that toiletries were not replenished on the second day of our stay, not a huge problem.
Location of the hotel is spot on and as it states in a 5 minute walk from the shopping centre just dont make the same mistake as we did - as you walk our of the hotel turn right down to the end of the road and turn left - we went the long way round!
Food in the hotel is overpriced but believe us there is plenty of choice out and about.
Gent is at the moment undergoing a bit of a facelift so it is a bit muddy and works everywhere but this does not take away from the beauty of the place.
Good tip for a restaurant with steak to die for - Jacobs Brasserie in the main Market Square - english translated menu with great food.
One thing that we would say is that this is definitely not a cheap place to visit - a beer costing on average £3.50 and a meal on average £18 just for one course! But this is due to the poor exchange rate at the moment.
We will be coming back in the summer so much too see.

On our way back from Paris to Amsterdam, we had to stay overnight in the Belfort due to a car crash.
The hotel people were very friendly and supporting and offered us complimentary special services (late check out, upgrade room, free drinks in hotel bar).
The hotel room was very spaceous, with a nice view on the city square and cathedral. Nice design, nice atmosphere, nice breakfast buffet.
I would recommend this hotel highly. We will definitely come back to this hotel again.
