“Clean and Servicable”
Reviewed 13 October 2011

Stayed here for one night. Was a bit dearer than expected, but we needed to sleep somewhere. Reception staff helpful. Room clean, adequate for our needs. Bed a little hard. Bathroom an odd shape, but good shower. No parking on-site - had to park down side street and duck down early in the morning to feed meter. Breakfast - reasonable choice of food.
Only downside - as in most European Hotels - no coffee making facilities or fridge.

Very poor insulation - noisy both internally and externally. Wooden floors not a good idea for hotel bedrooms! Excessive noise from neighbouring rooms and rooms above made sleeping difficult. Not sure what they have done to the plumbing system, but sound of water rushing down pipes after people in rooms above had flushed the toilet was unbelievable.
No kettle in room for coffee/tea.
On the positive side, staff were very helpful and friendly. Location a short walk from town centre.

Stayed at Ibis Centrum Opera in Gent in Belgium last week. Room a little basic but then this is 2 star hotel and we got a 3rd night free deal. It was however nice and clean, very well located, the staff were helpful, the buffet breakfast was nice enough and I could get BBC tv as well and the bed was really comfy. I likes the poppies of Flanders theme as well. Not bad at all.

We usually stay at Ibis hotels whenever we are abroad. They are basic, clean and offer good value for money. The Hotel Ibis Gent Centrum Opera is no exception. We stayed at this hotel from 24 to 27 June 2011 and paid € 195,= for three nights (without breakfast). The hotel is within walking distance of Ghent’s historic district (800 meters) and about 2 kilometres from the nearest train station. Furthermore there is a tram stop conveniently located right in front of the hotel. Check-in was efficient. Our hotel room was basic, it did not have a safe and there were no in-room coffee or tea making facilities, but it did have a flat screen TV and an air conditioner. Bathrooms are small, clean and equipped with a hairdryer and soap and shampoo dispensers. The only negative is that the walls are thin and we could occasionally hear the television and people walking around in the room next door. Also the hotel room and bathroom doors slam shut and there is no way of closing these doors without making some noise. It did not keep us awake, but if you are a light sleeper, it might be a problem. Nevertheless we were quite satisfied with our stay at the Hotel Ibis Gent Centrum Opera and will probably stay there again in the future.

This my second stay at this hotel on business. Overall too much noise from neighbours. Small bathroom and room. No bathtub. There are better hotels at the same price in Gent. Breakfast is ok. Internet overpriced for a hotel of this quality.

Room Tip: all rooms are the same...stay away from the street though.
