For the price that you pay this hotel is bad. I had a room on the first floor with view to the square. The view was nice but the notice of the tram made it impossible to sleep before 24:00 and more than 05:30. The room was cold and the air conditioning was not working.

Breakfast: poor, service poor. The ladies in the breakfast spent more time to collect the vouchers than make sure nothing is missing from the already poor buffet. One of the was also relocating the cheese with her hands after cleaning the tables!

I would recommend on that money to stay in another place.

We went there last weekend and we liked it very much. A very nice price (less then 100€ a night/room). The room was not super big, but had a queen size and sing size bed, flatscreen, ac, and the bathroom had a shower sink and toilet. No fridge, but there is a 24/7 bar open and at the reception is a vending machine. There is a parking under the hotel, however it was full at the time we arrived. But there are 2 big parkings within 10min walking distance (13€/24hrs).
The location is very good.

We wanted a short break in Bruges or Ghent & after some consideration decided we'd take the Eurostar to Brussels, stay in Ghent & do Bruges as a daytrip. Ghent is roughly halfway between Brussels & Bruges & about half an hour on the train so this worked out really well. We also spent an afternoon in Antwerp (about an hour on the train) which I can recommend too. We opted for this Ibis hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews as it seemed to tick all the boxes - its in a very good location, directly opposite the cathedral & only a very short walk to Graslei with its beautiful old buildings & canalside restaurants. The hotel had friendly (english speaking) staff, rooms were clean & had daily housekeeping & were also very reasonably priced. So, as I said, it ticked all the boxes ..... I just wish I could say we liked it more. We're quite used to staying in small hotel rooms but we both thought the rooms here felt particularly small & a little oppressive which I suppose may just be due in part to the colour scheme but the result for us was that it didn't feel a particularly welcoming place to come back to at the end of the day. I found this review quite tricky as in the interests of honesty I've had to be a bit negative but in many respects this hotel has everything going for it. I've given it an overall rating of "very good" as it deserved better than "average" & if you want a cheap, clean & well located hotel in Ghent & don't mind a room that feels a little cramped, I can definitely recommend it.

Ibis hotels are pretty consistent, so you generally know what to expect when you stay in one: serviceable rooms with fairly comfortable beds. This particular hotel was really quite pleasant though! We booked it based on price, and only realized later while mapping what we planned to do that every restaurant, pub, or attraction that we wanted to see was very literally easy walking distance to and from the hotel. The staff is incredibly helpful and accommodating. Due to the shape of the plug and position of the electrical outlet in our room, we were unable to charge our cell phones, and the lobby was kind enough to let us use one of their outlets to charge our phones!

I do think it's fair to warn visitors that if the sound of bell music from the Belfry ringing at all hours of the day and night aren't pleasant to you, you may want to seek a hotel much farther from the Belfry than this one. I happen to find them very pleasant and was happy to hear it whenever it started playing.

The best thing about the hotel room was the bed. It was very comfortable. I think they were recently upgraded. The rooms are small but functional and clean. Free wi-fi (512 k/bits) is available and unlike previous comments made I didn't find it to be slow, and I was uploading fairly large files. The staff were friendly enough.
The location is also very good, across the road from St Bavo's cathedral and within walking distance of all the main attractions.

Room Tip: The parking entrance is fairly tricky to navigate so take care when entering.

We were awoken by drilling into our bedroom wall. When I rang reception they refused to stop our very unpleasant 9 am alarm clock. We were told it was "impossible" to stop and that they would not do anything about it. The hotel is well located and the rooms are decent for the price but the staff have no respect for their guests and simply don't care.

PS. Wifi is not free - 512 k/bits is free which will not load any website ( eg. tripadvisor, newspaper ,..) - PROPER internet is an astounding 4.50 per hour! Ryanair cumulative business model eat your heart out !
