The place from the moment you enter the building gives you the idea of being hosted to a friend's house. The owners are very hospitable and pleasant people!

The room that we stayed in was at the second floor, and according to the owner was the big one. And it was actually very comfortable. It was also very quite!

I wouldn't say it was the cleanest place I have ever stayed in, but the bathroom was very clean and so were the sheets! So all the important hygienic areas were more than appropriate!

The building is located 5 minutes from the heart of the city on foot, which is very helpful especially if you return back to the room with a stomach full of belgian delights! (or after a night full of clubbing!) :P

Finally, the breakfast was very nice! It felt like your aunty was preparing you a meal! we totally enjoyed it!

In general, if you're looking for a good value for money solution in Ghent, there you have it!
Enjoy!

Room Tip: The big room at the back of the building is very quite and comfortable!

I actually did not stay at this B&B, but I had a weird experience with it. I made a reservation through Booking.com for a 5 persons room. When I received the confirmation message it stated that this room was in the 5th floor of the hotel. The hotel homepage shows that the hotel has only three floors. Thus, I wrote to the hotel manager and he told me that this room is on the first floor and that there is a lift in the hotel to the other floors. But reading the customers' reports I saw that many of them wrote that there was any lift in this hotel. Finally, considering these contradictory data, I decided to cancel my reservation.

We arrived at Ghent Dampoort station around 7pm and walked to the B&B. It was a pleasant 15 minute walk (we were pulling suitcases over cobble stones so that did slow us down).

B&B La Ducale is easy to miss. There is a little bell with the name written on it. However, as soon as we rang the light came on and we were given a warm welcome.

The owner helped us with our bags up to the second floor. Once there, he spent some time showing us a map of Ghent and the places to see.

The room was sparsely furnished but the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was clean and modern. There is free wi-fi and complimentary water in the room.

The B&B is located right in the middle of the historic town so if you're sight seeing it's perfect. There is also an abundance of restaurants and lots of activity going on. Overall it feels like a safe area.

We were given the choice of when we wanted breakfast served. The owner was punctual and the breakfast was good. It consisted of cheeses, cured meats, pate and bread, with coffee and juice.

In summary: Don't expect the ammenities and sparkle of a 5 star hotel. Instead, you get a comfortable B&B and great hosts. Highly recommended.

Interesting, quirky house which is right in the heart of Gent, so fantastically placed for a city weekend. Big room which was very clean. And with good bathroom. The owners Leo and DIna were very kind and helpful and very accommodating, especially as we arrived quite late. Great breakfast in the morning. But rather noisy in the morning as hotel is on busy main street and the trams start running very early. No other complaints at all.

Positive: Central location, the owners of the house are very friendly, they make you feel so welcome and give you great information about where to eat/drink/see. Bright cheery room. Nice but simple breakfast. Free bottles of water in your fridge all the time. Very nice toiletries left in bathroom, lots of towels too. Room wasn't finished so well eg plug sockets looked loose but I didn't mind so much. Good value. Comfortable BIG bed. Lots of hot water, nice shower and bath
Negative: No shower curtain in shower means the floor gets very wet! Difficult to find - only a small sign on the road

Our room was quite finished, lovely, quiet, and felt like home. The owners were friendly and served a nice Belgian breakfast of breads, charcuterie, cheese, jam, juice, coffee, tea... I felt like I was staying in someone's home. Would definitely return!

This a very nice B&B. Very friendly people, big rooms and a nice bathtub. The breakfast was good. Free internet. Overall a good experience. Centrally located , 5 min walk to the centre. The host was friendly and very helpful. Nicer than some of the chain hotels in Gent.
