I can comment on what I saw as I didn't have too much experience,
We reserved the Marriott which was over-booked, we had to walk the way to this hotel.
It has a great location within Gent. it consists of two buildings the main, which used to be a very rich man's home till recently (so I'm told). and the second fully modern,
The shower is totally new, no bath, The SPA center located in a small building (not one of the two mentioned above) is brand new and shiny.
We got a spacious living room and a bad room, the batch room had all the amenities you would expect from this kind of hotel.
It had a small walki closet room, which is unusual in europe....

We stayed in this hotel for three nights during our stay in Belgium. We find Ghent to be central to our other destinations: Bruges, and Brussels. We're a young family of three with a 10-month old baby. The staff at this hotel were more than helpful. Linda at the reception went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was pleasant. When we found out that we left an important belonging, Jalle from front desk was more than very helpful. Rooms were nice and clean. We feel that we're getting more than our moneys worth. We're very happy with our stay.

This is a wonderful, modern hotel in an old historic building. It is convenient to everything in Gent, and is a very comfortable place to stay. It is very well insulated and the rooms are very quiet. One of the quietest hotels in which I’ve ever stayed.

The “Charme” rooms are pretty small, but very well designed and perfectly comfortable. But the cost to upgrade to a suite is minimal, and it’s a lot more space. When I come again, I’d probably pay the extra for a suite.

I also want to commend Jelle, the duty manager at the front desk, who was a life saver. When I woke up I found out that my Thalys train from Gent to Paris had been cancelled because of an accident between Gent and Brussels. Jelle was able to find out what happened, found an alternative IC train to Brussels to connect with my Thalys train, and called a cab to get me to the train station in time. Very professional and personal service!

The food and beer selection in the hotel’s restaurant were excellent, but also try the restaurant across the street, Le Duc, which was also great.

Room Tip: Pay the extra to upgrade to the suite

We arrived today on our anniversary I had booked a junior suite and when we arrived Nicholas on duty had upgraded us to room 444 which is a superior suite. It is fantastic. Massive balcony, lovely bath and large pop up tv for my husband to watch the England match later. The hotel decor is modern and very clean. Hotel only 5 mins walk from the lovely old canal area. Ghent is a hidden gem worth discovering and this hotel and staff compliment it perfectly.

Been to Ghent a number of times but the first time used this hotel. Everything about this place was perfect. Only a 5 minute walk from the centre, this hotel is very grand, spatious and sophisticated. Our room seemed like a converted loft room with really high ceilings, wooden stair case king-sized bed, large flat-screen TV, sofas, chairs, perfecty decorated and a large bathroom - absolutely fantastic. Breakfast was included in the deal and included a huge spread of hot and cold food. All the staff were really friendly, helpful and efficient (especially Andrei)! Used the restaurant one evening and I have to say our meal was outstanding and at a very reasonable price.
Bit disappointed there were no tea/coffee facilities in the room but that should not detract from one of the best, all round hotels I have stayed in.

We decided to stay in Gent instead of Brugge. Good decision. Gent is not to be missed. This hotel is the place to stay. It's a quality hotel, recently completed it looks like. We stayed here for 6 nights. Front staff very friendly and efficient. The decor is brilliant. We chose a balcony room on the 4th floor (top). The room was nicely fitted out (no tea or coffee facilities which is strange) but it does have a fridge. Bed was great and the bathroom first class. Breakfast is pricey, but good. The gym ok. A better pin weight machine should accompany this class of hotel. Make sure you go day one to the steam/sauna room. The steam room is amazing with a subtle changing coloured lighting on the floor and a menthol type fragrance. The accompanying heated pool with original dome is also a feature. Location wise this hotel is perfect for the centrum, but you will need a taxi from the train station (10€). Gent was a highlight, with lots of vegetarian options, nice galleries and shopping. The history amazing and the locals take great pride in everything they do and present. Get the 3 day Visitor Pass at the tourist centre. Only 20€ but we reckoned we tripled the value.
