Owner description: De Dulle Griet is a time-worn old-school pub, with a wonderful old Flemish interior. The selection of beers is impressive too, with more than 400 different special beers, both local & international. De Dulle Griet has the biggest choice in terms of beers in Ghent!

Great atmosphere, wide choice of beers, absolute recommendation when you're up for a Belgian beer! It is a nice pub where you feel the passion for beers.

“Booze choose”
Reviewed 27 December 2013

Try out their yard of ale only break the vacuum first and not the glass (or they take your shoes). It's called a 'glok' (pronounced GULP) as that's the sound you make when you drink it. Might be worth wearing a bib unless brave. Hundreds of drinks to try and a full house (always a good sign).

“Incredible selection of beers”
Reviewed 22 October 2013

Dulle Griet was one of the bars we decided to visit on our last night, and both of us wished we could have stayed longer. The selection of beers is genuinely vast, but you could probably while away an entire evening on the house beer alone. The service, like many bars in Ghent, is not exactly prompt, but we didn't struggle to order once we'd sat down outside. Dulle Griet has a great location, stays open fairly late, and the atmosphere is fantastic. This is, without a doubt, one of the pubs you should seek out in Ghent: ignore the ones in and around the main square, and head to Vrijdagmarkt. You'll be a beer expert in no time.

“Being pushed around in Dulle Griet”
Reviewed 11 August 2013

During the "Gentse Feesten", we were having beers on the terrace of the pub 'Dulle Griet'. After drinking our beers (which we purchased there), we went to the toilet before we moved on.
The toiletlady said we had to pay 0.5€. We showed her the purchase ticket of our consumptions. Then she said that we have to pay anyway. When we pointed out that this is not right, another colleague of her begins to interfere in the conversation.

She asked us "How much consumptions we actually had there". We answered "1 beer each" and her response was: "It is impossible that you have to go to the toilet after only 1 beer, there is also a free toilet accross the street but then I would not like to see your shoes". After this we decided to simply pay the 0.5€ and went to the toilet. Coming out of the toilet we wished the ladies a 'happy Gentse Feesten' and went downstairs. She responded to us "West-Flemish bitc***".

When this was not enough already, after coming down the stairs, a big guy approached us and started pushing 1 of the girls 4 times while asking her what her problem is. She responded that there is no problem, she paid the money and got out of there as quickly as she could. The entire pub was watching...
It is obvious that we will not enter this pub again, or we need to have our own security with us. looking back at this, we regret not to have filed a complaint against the pub.
