It's true that the décor is looking a little dated, and the massive building works surrounding it can be off putting at first sight. BUT the location is convenient (just follow the signs from the motorway, not your satnav), accommodation prices are always reasonable and the staff in all areas are helpful and friendly. I've stayed a few times over the years, and always recognise the same faces, be it on reception or in the restaurant - usually a good sign I find.
Dinner is not cheap, but food is good quality and servings are certainly generous. Plenty of choice at breakfast.
You can be in Bruges in 40 minutes but pay a fraction of the price of hotels there - and Gent is a wonderful city which is well worth exploring, and much less crowded.More
