“Saint Peter's Abbey”
Reviewed 18 April 2013

I highly recommend you don't miss this unique location in Ghent!
The abbey itself is an extraordinary monument with it's famous and sometimes turbulent history. But, when visting the abbey make sure you take the Alison movie guide and you will experience an emotional, intreaguing and exciting voyage through time with a virtual monk telling you his vibrant story of the life in the abbey as it once was. Extraordinary experience, I compliment the Ghent tourist office, culture board or whoever came up with this brilliant idea!

“A real find”
Reviewed 22 January 2012

The enormous square in front is a gathering place for students on sunny days. The garden in the back has a vineyard and is a wonderful place for a picnic on a lazy summer's day.

“Very Interesting Approach”
Reviewed 25 October 2011

My son, 11, and I went to the Abbey during out three month trip to Gent. We had handheld video/audio sets as we worked our way thought the Abbey and the church next door. The tour lasted about 1.5 hours which seemed a little long. The audio/video sets the stage for a mystery of how and why one of the monks died. We did end up skipping a couple of the stops and audio because those spots were a bit creepy. For example, the wine cellar and the guillotine room were a little creepy and so we simply skipped those. Overall, I'd recommend the tour.
