Description: The Belfort Restaurant will become a modern brasserie led by Tom Klussendorf who used to be the chef at Cafe Parti during the last couple of years. He aims for tasty and healthy dishes with a focus on organic and local products. The centerpiece is undoubtedly the rotisserie with farm chicken, roasts and, in season, pheasant! Of course there is also a wide range of vegetarian dishes and there will also be a selection of dishes for those with gluten allergies or for those who want to eat food with low carbohydrates. Besides that, something to really look out for, will be the exquisite wine list at the restaurant! Both the Cafe and the Restaurant have a spacious terrace overlooking the new park that was built along the Stadshal. A lovely oasis in the center of Ghent where you can enjoy delicious products, a wide selection of beers and the environment. The Belfort Stadscafe and Restaurant are situated beneath the Stadshal on the Emile Braun square in Ghent.

There are 2 parts to this place. One is open early morning (it is trust me, you just have to open the door) it doesn't look open, but we were determined. The other is more formal, maybe afternoon evening, I cannot comment on that.

For B/fast it is great, a typical European B/Fast, as big or small as you want it. There is even the local at the bar drinking Stella at 8:00 am!

We had 2 B/fasts there, one after a particularly hard night on Belgian beer & it got me off to a great start.

The barman doesn't speak english, my French (not his first language) is barely passable, but we managed to get 2 great B/fasts & even logged onto the wifi (wyfy). Stephanie is the one who speaks english & was called into action a number of times, but in all we managed alone, happily.

This is a restaurant at least sponsored, if not owned by Leffe. The place is like a shrine to the popular beverage. There is even a visible cellar stocked with bottles of the beer.

It is a short walk from the Novatel & looks out onto a lawn & the St Nicholas Church & bell. A life saver on at lest one occasion!

We had a very enjoyable lunch, with excellent food and first class service from the staff. The portions were large and reasonably priced. The only criticism that I would make is that it's nicer and more professional for the manager to escort you to your table when it's not busy, rather than simply point in a direction. The décor is modern, with a nice ambiance. This restaurant is highly recommended.

I am a regular visitor of this restaurant and always been happy with the well priced lunch menu. Last week I went for a more extensive evening diner with some business partners, we were a group of 8 and were seated outside. The restaurant was rather full so it was a pleasant surprise service remained quick and efficient, (though 1 of the waiters was new, did her best, but wasn’t up to the job yet.)
The meal itself was excellent, a good quality beef carpaccio followed by a very original ‘gentse waterzooi’, a ghent chicken/vegetables soup speciality. Dessert (ananas carpaccio with mint) had to much mint to my taste. With the main course came a remarkable greek red wine.

Another positive experience, I’ll be back!
