We visited this restaurant at lunch time. the weather was nice enough to sit on the terrace on the canal, which was a bit cosy, The food did take some time to arrive at the table but we were on holiday so were not rushed. The food is a mixture of Japanese and European and is extremely good. We ordered a dish each and it was more than enough to fill us up at lunch time. To go with the meal the waiter suggested his table wine which he said was very good, he was not wrong it was one of the better wines we tried while in Ghent.

I was attracted to this restaurant because it styled itself as a "vegetarian restaurant" and it has a terrace by the river. I sat on the terrace, which was pleasant, hence the one star. The food was dire. It is not a vegetarian restaurant - it serves meat and fish - but it does have vegetarian options. I ordered a bell pepper stuffed with tofu and cheese. The plate I was served was a jumble of everything and anything - the phrase dog's dinner comes to mind. The half pepper was there, along with rice decorated with seaweed; pasta with a soy dressing; saute potato with sour cream dressing; broccoli with satay sauce; tomato cooked and raw; roasted aubergine; a mash of potato and carrot; shredded cabbage ..... and maybe more; I lost count. This melange was not cheap €21.50. The restaurant was not at all busy (two other tables occupied) and the reason is clear. I came out onto Kraanlei and enviously saw people eating some nice looking dishes. If you want a riverside seat, go to the tourist traps on Graslei ... or buy some frites and eat them sitting on the wall. You'll be better off that way. By the way, I take no pleasure in writing bad reviews, but sometimes there is no honest alternative.

The restaurant is well situated by the river and has an interesting menu but that is where the good stuff ends. The food came out slowly and there were seven of us and we want to eat together not in some sort of relay despite the owner telling us to start or it would get cold. It was a strange mix of food that arrived on my plate - samosas, chips, rice, salad, etc - very expensive especially when there was no change given which the owner must have presumed was a tip whilst he spun us a story at the end of the meal. Don't be fooled by the organic, angelic atmosphere they're out to get your euros like everywhere else!

You can find here relaxing atmosphere. This is not FAST food. For us it was food for good mood ))) We tried vegetarian steak: interesting experience. Notice for fans of Japanese food: miso broth is not Japanese miso soup. To my opinion it's more like Ramen broth. But it was tasty. Tables on the terrace are very cosy.

We were tired and wanted to sit quietly with a glass of wine. We stood outside the organic supermarket and saw a board saying Restaurant. Open 12.00-14.00 & 18.00-20.45. But where was it?

A kind lady escorted us through the fascinating food aisles to the small restaurant at the back and happily served us drinks.

The shop then closed for the day and those wanting to enjoy the restaurant came in through a side entrance.

This is where they let themselves down. The side entrance was most off putting, with dustbins and a storage area. Had we wanted to eat there after the supermarket closed, we would not have entered the passage way. Such a pity because they were so nice to us.

It was obvious some of the diners were regulars and the food looked tasty. The terrace over looking a canal would be a lovely place to enjoy lunch in warm weather.
