We stayed only for two nights in Hotel Castel, but the location was extremely convenient for us as on the first day we arrived by train from Brussels, the next day we travelled to Bruges and eventually left by train to Amsterdam. As the hotel is located right in front of the Sint-Pieters station, it was just perfect.

I was a bit worried about staying in an area around a train station as they are usually not very nice, but Ghent Sint-Pieters does seem to be a pleasant exception.

The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Although we arrived around 11am, which is too early to check in, they let us into the room since the room was already prepared, so we could leave the luggage and go to see the city immediatelly. We also got some booklets and useful advises of what to see and do in Ghent.

For getting from elevator to the room, however, one has to climb some 6-8 steps on a quite narrow staircase. Could be unpractical for a traveller with a bigger suitcase.

The room was pleasant, looked like it was renovated not so long ago, clean and had some tea and coffee facilities. The layout was a bit uncomfortable since the bathroom door when open would almost touch the bed. Not sure if other rooms are better in that sense.

I did not, however, find a "Do not disturb" sign in the room, so the first morning at around 10am the cleaning man tried to enter the room while I was still in bed. I didn't hear his knocking as I was sound asleep.

Getting to the city center is not a problem by public transport or by walking for around 30 mins.

We stayed only one night in this hotel. The location was fine for travelling into the city by tram, although the parking was troublesome. The room was clean and comfortable, but not memorable. The safe didn't work. Breakfast was nice.

The location is perfect if you want to use the train to travel around since the station is 1 minute way (but there is no noise). To go to the city you can take the tram (the stop is 2 minutes away from the hotel) which takes 10 minutes.
The breakfast was very good with several options.
The staff was always friendly and helpful.
The internet was one of the best I ever had.
The room was clean and cozy.

Great size family room, with kids having separate room which was a huge bonus! Friendly staff, good breakfast. Located a little way out from the centre of Ghent, but opposite station and trams so no problem for us.

Location - Directly opposite to Ghent Railway station across square. We were on fourth floor so no noise issues. To get to town centre turn left out of hotel and follow road to left. You can either get on a Tram or follow the tram lines in to town - about a 20 minute walk.
Hotel facilities - Reception with friendly staff, lift to all four floors, bar/restaurant with a good selection of beers and other drinks.
Rooms - Well decorated, warm, Tv with local channels, lots of little bottles with shampoo etc, plenty of hot water, frdge, hair dryer, Tea & Coffee.
Breakfast - Scrambled egg, Bacon, bolied eggs, cereals, breads, cold meats, good selection of cheese, juice and hot drinks.
I travlled with my wife and two other couples and we had no complaints at all - I would recommend this hotel.
