OK, so the positives. The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful - when we first arrived it was great to have Jeffrey sit down and run through things with us, telling us about the tram ticket system, how to get into town etc. The room itself was at the top of the hotel and a nice touch was the free bottles of water and the range of TV channels available included a varied selection of English language channels. The bed was very comfortable and unusually there was more than 1 pillow each, which I was really pleased with.
However, firstly, we were a tad disappointed with the room. When we arrived there was work ongoing with a plumber in the hotel. Clearly there is an issue with the heating in some rooms - at least there was in our room - the radiator in the bathroom worked, until Friday night anyway. Apart from that we had to rely on a small portable heater and it really wasn't enough for a cold February night. I was freezing all night. The bathroom radiator never worked again after Friday night.
Having stayed in hotels rated number one on TripAdvisor in a few other European cities, this really didn't match up, the bathroom was small, the shower was a basic shower over the bath and the 'bath' towels were not much bigger than hand towels to be honest.

Breakfast in the morning, started out well, a lovely fresh orange machine and a varied range of breads and pastries, cold meats, cheeses, fruit and dairy products was what we've come to expect from European city hotels. However we were asked if we'd like eggs cooked, ordered and waited...and waited....and waited. 40 minutes later an undercooked cheese omelette (we'd ordered fried eggs, bacon and tomatoes) turned up. It was raw in the centre and just so disappointing.
To be fair, we weren't charged for the breakfast once we pointed this out.
Overall, the hotel is handy for the station, and the 2 brothers running the place really can't do enough to try and make your stay as good as possible, but the freezing cold room really should not be happening - they're clearly aware as there was a portable heater, and the breakfast incident was unfortunate, but it really doesn't match up to the "top" rated hotels we've stayed in in Cologne, Brussels, and Valencia.More
