We got a room at the other side of the street, in a house where also students live. The room itself was quite shabby, with old wooden floors, and the bed was old, but there was a refrigerator and the bathroom was new. At night we could hear the students rummaging above our heads (which didn´t keep us awake).
The breakfast buffet was fine, the regular: toast, cereal, ham, cheese, marmelade, hot and cold drinks.

Its location is fantastic: right in the middle of the old city center of Gent. You couldn´t be in a more beautiful spot. There are places nearby where you can park your car (Reep, Oude beestenmarkt). Remeber that almost everywhere in Gent you have to pay for parking space. We came on foot from the train station Gent Dampoort, which is about 20 min, and not all my family members enjoyed that walk, but I myself didn´t mind.

Overall I´d say a very basic place to stay, but I guess that´s what you can expext for that price. The location is this hotel´s bonus.

We wanted a hotel that was a good value and had some character, and found this online. We were delighted that it lived up to its ratings. This salmon-pink hotel is on a quiet little side street but very close to the center of the city as well as the river. The hotel staff couldn't be nicer, and the breakfast (included in the price) is very ample. After sleeping in the bed from hell in Paris, we anxiously awaited seeing what the Flandria had in store for us. Two wonderful, comfy twin beds in a reasonable-size room with a large bathroom. Two sets of windows looking out on a placid street, armoire, desk, and some extra space. unfilled space. The hotel spans at least two buildings, and I'm sure the rooms vary, but we were very happy with ours. I highly recommend this hotel. It cost only 65 euros (including that big breakfast) and I have nothing bad to say about it.
Note: Until they finish the renovation of downtown, the standard directions about what tram to take don't work. Be sure to get directions factoring in current conditions.

I have been to Gent for few times and always stayed at Flandria Hotel. It was not my choice BUT - Resonable prices, nice location near to old part of Gent wich is beautifull by the way. Wifi always worked only in breakfest area for me, dont know why, but doesnt realy matter. Breakfest is nothing luxury but all you need you can find there. Also the lady at the frontdesk is very helpfull and friendly. All in all nice hotel for the money you pay.

Those expecting luxury and/or wanting to spend time in their hotel room would be advised to go somewhere else. But if you're looking for a basic, clean, quite hotel close to the historic center of Ghent, this is an excellent choice. The hotel staff is extremely friendly and helpful, fluent in at least Dutch, English and French; the rooms are small and somewhat antiquated, but clean and quiet with the basics needed. The wireless internet is a plus (though in our room at the far end of the second floor the reception was poor). The breakfast is very good for a hotel in this price class, with wonderful coffee, a good selection of breads/rolls, orange juice, tea, muesli and hard-boiled eggs.

Again, if you expect to spend a lot of time in your hotel room, this is not the hotel for you. But if you're looking for an inexpensive stepping stone to the wonderful Ghent old town where you can get a good night's sleep, I recommend this whole-heartedly.

This a business venture that is run by a very nice, charming and polite lady. Well thats the positive bit over...

...breakfast consists of bread rolls, cheeses, cold meats, etc. All bowls, cups and glasses are very small and you get a side plate to eat from - basically you have to keep on getting up to get what you want to eat as opposed to being able to do it in one trip.

Also, a key issue is that between my partner and I we were both bitten (blood sucking) no less than 67 times by 'something in our room' in the 48 hours we stayed there. Now we did have a few mozzies buzzing around but so may bites in such a short period?

Room was fusty smelling.

We had to ask for the beds to be remade as we found hairs on the pillows and we were not given enough towels (2 x small hand towels) on arrival.

There are two complexes to this hotel.

The main, is were the reception is and this is the building that is included in the brochure and web site pictures.

Very nice looking eh?

The building you don't see, is the one we had rooms allocated in.

Run down? Just a bit...

...lets just say that by the decor it has not been painted in a good 10+ years. All areas are soiled and dirty.

When I get the images back - I will post them up.

We stayed 2 out of the 5 nights we had booked there and then moved ourselves to a mainstream hotel in Gent. Yes, it was that bad.

I booked a night at the Flandria following a pretty good review in a guide-book. However I was very disappointed in the hotel - it's very shabby and extremely basic. Great for students on a tight budget, but for anyone wanting a bit more comfort and style - forget it!

Good hotel close to the center of Gent and close to Dampoort station.
Very helpful staff and a good price. We would stay there again. No noise problems at all. There is a computer downstairs for free internet use.

One of the mattresses in our room probably needed to be replaced, but everything else was fine.
