“Best location! Great Hotel”
Reviewed 9 July 2013 via mobile

Great location. Centrally located. Clean and comfortable. Free Wifi throughout hotel and in room is a big plus! Close to great restaurants, markets and shopping. Happy Hour on Friday 4-7PM with half priced drinks and appetizers (that might be a stretch). The food was not a highlight, skip room service. A great find and all and all and would definitely stay again.
Wished they offered entertainment beyond the Friday only piano during happy hour.

Words can't begin to describe the location if this hotel in the town of Ghent. We wish we would have planned on staying here another day. The hotel is nice and clean. If you stay here get a water view, it is worth it. Had a wonderful time here.

We were very satisfied with this hotel, largely because it was in a great location and was very professionally and efficiently run. The hotel's contemporary feeling was bright and airy, which was a plus, though on the flip side we did feel a little like we missed out on a sense of local charm by staying at a chain hotel. Rooms were large, felt fresh, and comfortable. We did not use the restaurant or public areas, choosing less expensive breakfast options outside of the hotel. We did use nearby public parking -- we used the St. Michael's lot, which was about five minutes from the hotel's "back" entrance on the Korenlei, thought there are also other public lots in the immediate vicinity. Our only real issue with the hotel was the wifi, which we found glitchy.

Perfect location
From St Pieters take tram 1 going to the centre stop at Markt and walk along St Michaels bridge. Turn right and you are on the korenkaii.

Room Tip: Walk 5 minutes to a baker and buy your own breakfast of chocolate bread...

We stayed here for three days in July. It is the best place to start a trip to Ghent, since it is located right on the canal. You step out and you are in the heart of all the old-town things you want to see in Ghent. Very modern inside, even though the facade is of old town houses. We had an interior room with a window to the atrium inside! Kind of a downer, but it really didn't matter since we got a very good price. There seemed to be a lot of business people there. Staff was really friendly and knowledgeable. Parking is the usual European adventure underground, but we survived. However, it is 23 euros. We were too lazy to change to a public lot! Our room was very large and modern. TV was fine. Lots of British channels. Can't complain about anything!

It’s all about location.. and this place is perfect. It’s right where you want to be when visiting Ghent. The rooms are clean and comfortable and meet the standard of any hotel I have stayed in by Marriott. The bed does differ a bit from those cozy soft pillow beds you can sometimes find in other Marriotts but the bed here is still nice and comfy. Free wifi thru out the hotel makes it nice to keep in touch. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is a small parking below the hotel that is limited so check in earlier at peak times.
Once again.. its all about the area… perfect place , do not hesitate.

This modern Marriott Hotel in Ghent is very centrally located. One can walk to almost all places in Ghent. It was very nice that it's back door was right there in one of the central channels where it seems that all the young people of Ghent gather to enjoy the sun and something to drink. We only stayed one night. the service was okay, did not have breakfast there as it was very expensive. Room very clean, nice size. If we were to come back to Ghent for more days we would certainly stay there.
