When traveling on business with my wife I try to find something other than the standard hotel fare so after reading the reviews we booked Chambre Plus. What a delightful surprise. Centered right in the middle of the old walking district and 2 blocks from the tram that comes from the train stations, this place is a gem. Beyond the street doorway which is shared with the a small shop is just another world. You enter and find a separate sitting room with internet access and travel brochures and chocolate samples to taste. Then comes a cozy breakfast room where you will eat one of the best breakfasts around and includes homebrewed coffee, homemade muffings a delicious cereal, homemade jams and jellies and eggs and charcuterie should you be interested. There is enough food that you won't need lunch. We stayed in the Cote Sud room in the back. It is more expensive but we think worth it. Its a split level job with bathroom and bed on the lower floor. Small desk on the landing area and then sitting room and soaking tub on the top floor with a skylight that opens to the heavens. Near the entrance is a little pass through door through which your breakfast fruit parfait is delivered 30 minutes before the time you identify that you want breakfast. Outside is a small peaceful and relaxing water garden where you can sip your champagne they provide on arrival or at your appointed time. The owners are such warm and gracious people that dispense great hospitality and excellent travel directions and ideas. This place is definitely worth the money.

Room Tip: Get the cote sud, the extra dollars are worth it.

Ghent is a fantastic town, hugely under-rated, and I couldn't think of anywhere I'd rather stay than Chambre Plus. We stayed in the Sultan's Room on the top floor, which is individually decorated and has an amazingly comfortable bed. Our welcome was warm, the breakfasts second to none (all freshly prepared and extremely plentiful - a mix of fruit, yoghurt, bread, pastries, cooked savoury food, chocolate, fresh juices, coffee, I could go on....), and the dining room and communal lounge were great spaces that we probably did not make as much use of as we should. The building itself is old, on a shopping street in the town centre. We walked everywhere, including from the station as the tram had broken down (otherwise I think it's pretty much direct). The walk was probably around 30 minutes or so and quite straightforward. Ghent is only half an hour from the Eurostar terminal so more easily accessible than Bruges, and we were hugely impressed by the variety of sights, bars and restaurants. It was nice to come back from a busy day out and about to find free chocolate deserts on the bed (one of the owners is a chocolatier...). We stayed in winter so did not make use of the garden, which looked a pleasant private sight for some downtime in the summer. Cannot recommend more highly.

Room Tip: The Sultan room was on the top floor which gave it character (exposed beams etc)

It was our first stay in Ghent and this very friendly and beautiful B&B and it's owner contributated to my love for Ghent!
Location: central! Located at the start of a shopping street (if you are by car, you can stop right in front of the b&b, unload your luggage and park your car somewhere else), and near all shopping area and restaurants and bakeries. Right across the street is a supermarket.
Parking: as the B&B is located at the beginning of a shopping street, there are few parking spaces. But there are plenty just 6-8 minutes away by foot.
Room: we stayed at the Congo, situated on the second floor. Great space, large bathroom, hifi, tea and coffee facilities, fridge, central heating/ac that works really well, window view of garden, large bed (think it was kingsize).
Breakfast: delicious! All kinds of bread, all kinds of savoury and sweet fillings to choose from, crossaints, eggs, yoghurt, fruit, fresh orange juice and of course tea and coffee.
Last but definately not least: owner: sweet, friendly, helpful, attentive. She brought some homemade chocolate mousse to our room one evening.

A stay in one of the three more than beautiful rooms in Chambreplus is the best way to discover Gent. The cute little B&B is situated in an old house in one of the oldest streets right in the center of Gent. You can walk within minutes to every nice attraction or shop in Gent. Yet the rooms at the gardensite of the house are very quietly situated. The hospitality of the owners of Chambreplus is unique. The breakfast they serve is maybe the best we have ever had (and we travel a lot!!). Both being teachers at the Hotel School in Gent they know how to treat or better spoil a guest. Their home is your home and they make you feel very much at home. The rooms are perfect with everything you need (cd/radio, tv, dvd's, coffee/tea, refrigerator, free internet and very soon wifi). No doubt: if we ever visit Ghent again, we wil stay at Chambreplus.

My husband booked as a night in this B&B and the rooms were charming and originally decorated, the breakfast was superbly presented and extremely copious and tasty as the croissants, bread, preserves and chocolate spreads were homemade! The owners went out of their way to be helpful and I will return with friends to learn how to make chocolates with them in their amazing basement kitchen! Thank you for a wonderful time and see you soon again!

A perfect pied-à-terre for visiting Ghent, Chambreplus really lives up to its name, the whole experience being much more than simply renting a room. The owners, Mia and Hendrich are both extremely friendly and helpful, proffering advice, maps and local information. The room was original in its decor, spacious, impeccably clean and extremely quiet... we were woken by birdsong in the morning. As Hendrich is also a pâtissier/ chocolatier, we had the opportunity to taste delicious pâtisseries at breakfast and to try his fresh chocolates fait-maison - a real treat. This excellent establishment is a far cry from the impersonality and standard operating procedures of most larger hotels and offers hospitality at its very best.

We just came back from our holiday in Belgium, of which we stayed for 1 night in Ghent in Chambreplus B&B. While the weather was not friendly to us in Ghent (raining hard when we were on the boat for canal cruise), this B&B is a perfect place to stay. The owners (Mia & Hendrik) are very friendly, they also own a chocolatier (Atelierplus) in the basement, so we got some sweets/chocolates also for afternoon tea. Breakfast was excellent, we got a wide selection of bread (baguette, mini roll, brioche) and croissant, homemade yogurt with fruits, cheese, ham, salami, egg, homemade jams, belgian chocolate, freshly pressed orange juice and coffee or tea (also a wide selection of tea). We stayed in Sultan room which is the smallest of the three rooms (located in comble / below the roof), but it's sufficient for 2 persons. Room is exactly like in the picture of this B&B website. Shower and toilette are separated, but both inside the room. I personally like Congo room better with it's colonial style (located on first floor, 2 floors below Sultan room, second floor room is privé).
