My fiancee and i stayed in the Cote Sud room for 2 nights 21st-23rd Dec. We were well looked after during our stay and were delighted with our room. The breakfasts and treats left for us were delicious and a chocoholics paradise! We enjoyed the gas fire and whirlpool immensely.

The room is expensive but for a luxury indulgent stay its money well spent.

The only negatives to the room was the downstairs area around the bed and bathroom - we felt there was a damp smell combined with stale smoke - we weren't sure if the last guests were smokers so perhaps that's what the smell was, but we're not sure as it didn't clear during our stay. We both found the bed uncomfortable to sleep in, almost as if we were on a slope and it felt lumpy. Its a shame as apart from these things our stay was almost first class.

. We visited Chambre Plus Sept. 11-13, 2012. We had a wonderful experience with very personal service in an intimate, charming B & B. Mia and Hendrik, both teachers in food preparation, are friendly and down to earth. Breakfast is available at your requested time and presented beautifully. It is delicious, as is the individualized express/coffee. Mia is helpful with Belgian history and what to see, while Hendrik is a chocolatier, making his own chocolate for guests. Chambre Plus is highly recommended. The attention to detail is outstanding. We would definitely return.

N51°3'19.6" E3°43'26.8" Chambreplus in the old centre of Gent is a favourite among the tour guides, because it earned its place at the top of the B&B’s in Gent since 2002. It is not cheap and competes in prize with hotel rooms, but it is worthwhile every euro. We stayed in the eastern themed Sultans room for 3 nights in May 2012 and were treated with surprising and excessive breakfasts from Mia and Hendrik. Both know the tricks of the trade, because both teach classes at the local hotel school. Hendrik is also a well-known chocolatier and offers courses in chocolate making in his well-equipped kitchen in the cellar.
Sleeping in the Sultans room with an excess of pillows is very romantic. Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, fridge and television are present. The bathroom is sufficient.
We loved our stay in Chambreplus, really appreciated the personal touch of Mia & Hendrik and their advise on the best restaurants Gent has to offer. Mia & Hendrik are truly exceptional hosts. This B&B earns its rightful number one spot in Gent.

Chambre Plus has everything: lots of style in design, a perfect location, extremely nice hosts knowing the city very well, a perfect little garden, outstanding breakfast (in particular if you love sweets buzt you also get eggs and cheese and sausage of highest quality), plus a beautiful room (Cote du sud). It is not cheap but it is good value for money if you appreciate something special. We wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in town.

We booked a room here and confirmed several times, even telling them of the precise time of arrival via train from Bruges. When we arrived at the front door, we stood with our bags, ringing and calling - trying in vain to reach someone. We stood there very 40 minutes. In desperation, we were forced to wander down the street and check-in to an impersonal hotel. While the ChambrePlus might be charming, unreliability is not acceptable. We stayed in B&Bs all over Belgium and were treated properly.

I knew even before I arrived that I'd love Chambre Plus. Any place that makes chocolate is OK in my book.

But beyond the chocolate, I found that Chambre Plus was a charming and cozy place to stay. I stayed in the Congo Room and loved the African decor the animal rug on the floor and all of the colonial details were delightful. The room was large and the bed was exterely comfortable. Enjoyed BBC 2 on the TV.

The hosts could not have been nicer. Breakfast was delicious -- my favorite the yogurt with fruit parfait. I'm not a big yogurt lover but this yogurt was made with the same vanilla that they use in their chocolates and it was amazing.

Chambre Plus is located in the middle of town which was very convenient.

P.S. Check out the pelican fountain in the garden - so much fun!

When traveling on business with my wife I try to find something other than the standard hotel fare so after reading the reviews we booked Chambre Plus. What a delightful surprise. Centered right in the middle of the old walking district and 2 blocks from the tram that comes from the train stations, this place is a gem. Beyond the street doorway which is shared with the a small shop is just another world. You enter and find a separate sitting room with internet access and travel brochures and chocolate samples to taste. Then comes a cozy breakfast room where you will eat one of the best breakfasts around and includes homebrewed coffee, homemade muffings a delicious cereal, homemade jams and jellies and eggs and charcuterie should you be interested. There is enough food that you won't need lunch. We stayed in the Cote Sud room in the back. It is more expensive but we think worth it. Its a split level job with bathroom and bed on the lower floor. Small desk on the landing area and then sitting room and soaking tub on the top floor with a skylight that opens to the heavens. Near the entrance is a little pass through door through which your breakfast fruit parfait is delivered 30 minutes before the time you identify that you want breakfast. Outside is a small peaceful and relaxing water garden where you can sip your champagne they provide on arrival or at your appointed time. The owners are such warm and gracious people that dispense great hospitality and excellent travel directions and ideas. This place is definitely worth the money.

Room Tip: Get the cote sud, the extra dollars are worth it.
