“Great spot - but don't go if you don't want Lobster !”
Reviewed 11 May 2014

Great lobster. Excellent atmosphere and really helpful attentive service.

You don't have to eat Lobster here and there is a good menu, but it seems a shame to go here if you are not coming here for the Lobster.

Great intimate restuarant with scenic view by the water

“Fine seafood restaurant, with picturesque canal side patio”
Reviewed 9 May 2014

We stumbled upon this place while walking thru Ghent. Never realized it was the #1 rated restaurant in Ghent until writing this review! How's that for luck! Fabulous lobster and seafood dishes with sauces so divine you'll have to stop yourself from licking the plate! We noticed the canal side shaded patio as we were crossing a nearby bridge. Ask to be seated there if it's a pretty day...wonderfully picturesque and romantic! Don't miss the complimentary after dinner liquor you will be offered as you pay your bill. Nice way to end a memorable meal.

“Unique surroundings”

Great place for lobster, the speciality here. Would be nice to have a more balanced meal with starter and desert. Cannot fault the staff and service if you have all evening. Great for special occasions

“A gratifying lobster dining”
Reviewed 26 April 2014

I have never been a big fan of fancy dining. in my opinion, the staffs are snob, food is overpriced, despite of very good quality, but portion so small that when i'm home i'll still chuck down some baked potato. quality and quantity, both matter to me. House of eliott, however, has changed my previous belief about fancy dining. as we stepped in the house, we were welcomed with a vibrant, picturesque atmosphere, where everything was decorated with Swing 20's theme: feathers, victorian frame, statues, mannequins with 20's clothing, flowers, dolls, it's inexplicable, and lobster was worshiped. we liked that the waiting room was separated from the dining room. the dining room was quite small, so my advice is to reserve seats. the staffs interacted with costumers amicably, and each of us was treated equally. they were very helpful and passionate about their job. they dressed up nicely and accordingly, and make sure you enjoy every single thing. we had marktmenu with asparagus, and it was outstanding. everything was prepared meticulously, from the Hors d'oeuvre, appetizer, main dish, dessert. our lobster in main dish was served with mousseline sauce, which was not too heavy. it was frothy and light, not covering the flavor of lobster, but instead it accompanied the lobster nicely. the lobster was cooked nicely. it was tender, and yet a bit chewy meaty texture. it was succulent crustacean with bursting rich flavor: sweet, a bit buttery and briny. we had tussendoortjes (which is snack between appetizer and main dish) of apple granita. not too sweet, slightly tang, and the alcohol did not overpower the apple. it was a very refreshing snack that washed our taste buds from the appetizer, preparing them for the magnificent main dish. everything served was umami! House of Eliott is a complete package of a great dining. from the staffs, the service, the food, everything was superb. it was indeed a slow dining, our dinner lasted from 7.30 until 10.30. but for that quality (and quantity), you should definitely slow down and savor every single bite. the price we paid, was definitely worth our experience.
