This a wonderful hotel to escape to, with your partner or with a group of friends. The food is fabulous. It may need a little attention in some of the rooms but the restaurant is brilliant at breakfast or dinner, never had room for lunch. The setting is magical with a super walk to the Helford River. We love the swimming pool, in the most amazing building and we have used the hot tub outdoors in January which feels wonderful. The staff are friendly and caring and also very professional. We have stayed here on many occasions and have already booked again for next year. They also value guests and usually offer brilliant deals if you are able to book again. Lovely, relaxing spa treatments are available and we have used with great success.

This hotel is wonderfully located near an estuary with yachts and a pub within 10 minutes walk. Rooms are a bit like staying at your grannies, but it's your wealthy granny. They are well appointed but a little bit old fashioned. Nice stuff in the bathroom. The clientelle were all well heeled retired couples. Jacket and tie is compulsory in the restaurant and the ladies were all dressed in their finery. There's no turning up for dinner in your shorts and flip flops here. You sit in the bar and wait to be served. The staff are very courteous. We didn't eat there. We went down to a local pub which was excellent. Breakfast was solid mix of cereals and fruit and toast. Again lovely service. We had ours early so no cooked. It's an 8 am start so quite late if you're on business. The next day we were leaving early so breakfast was delivered to the room at 6am. Very good service. This is not a hotel for people under 55 really as it seems to be geared to the retired couple and it does this exceptionally well by the looks of things. It was busy and there were lots of loyal returning clients. It feels as if it will grow on you.

We have visited this hotel on a number of occasions, some times for themed events but on this occasion it was for a special birthday.

We stayed in our usual room which has a great view of the last hole on the golf course. As per usual the food was excellent, and the canapas and drink in the bar before dinner make dinning a pleasurable experience.

The hotel grounds are great, and we also enjoyed some good walks locally.

The facilities such as the pool and spa make this a great hotel to relax at. The staff are warm and friendly and always helpful.

We love dressing for dinner, and this adds to the atmosphere. The themed events such as gormate and Burns weekends are excellent value for money, and provide a great opportunity to meet other guests.

We love it here, and it was a great place to spend a special occasion, the cake provided was very nice.

We will return again soon.

We stayed here for one night while walking the SW Coast Path from Padstow to Falmouth. We left with mixed feelings. The positives were the lovely room with plenty of space, the beautiful grounds and the great breakfast. On the negative side was the dinner which was rather dull and unimaginative. We also left with a feeling that we would not return as the atmosphere of the hotel was not very relaxed and dare we say it - rather stuffy. Could this be the dress code of jackets and tie in the evening or the clinical efficiency of the staff which seemed to lack a personal touch and friendliness? It's a shame as so much is right but for us the result means we are unlikely to return to the Budock Vean.

We have just returned after 5 nights at Budock Vean, we have stayed there before and each time we are so pleased we found this gem. The staff are really friendly and professional, the food is to die for and with a good choice changing daily. The gardens are beautiful and lead down to the Helford river where it is so lovely to sit and watch the boats, it is so peaceful. Can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Worth paying extra for superior overlooking golf course and gardens

We had a wonderful stay at Budock Vean Hotel.
The hotel and its grounds are very picturesque. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were faultless and bent over back to make us feel welcome and well looked after.
Well worth a visit - highly recommended.

Room Tip: we had a superior room and it was flawless
