This is a find in tiny Mawnan Smith. Giuseppe greeted us at the door at opening time as if we were regulars, which most of his customers are. This real mom-and-pop operation is obviously a cherished neighborhood fixture. The food is pretty simple but well prepared. I had gnocchi with tomato sauce and pan-fried local bream with tomatoes and garlic; my wife had minestrone soup, and sea bass. We shared a large bowl of crisp potatoes, carrots, and broccoli and desserts of blueberry panna cotta and ginger ice cream. All of the dishes were better than expected. More than anything else, however, the place had a wonderful feel − like a friend’s very comfortable dining room, and the friend is also a superior cook
