“Beautiful Gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 January 2013

This is a beautiful hotel tucked in the middle of the city center of Leuven. The rennovation is stunning. Be sure to ask for a rennovated room -- they are beautiful, comfortable, and so quiet you will think no one else is in the hotel! The breakfast is outstanding as is the service. There is not a restaurant in the hotel -- but several nearby provide takeout. You may also order simple items from the bar in the evenings. Great internet and posh bathrooms! The other hotels in Leuven are basic and industrial -- this one stands apart! Directly out the door from the bar is an outstanding french influenced restaurant -- delicious for dinner if it's snowy or icy.

Room Tip: Be sure to get one of the rennovated rooms -- usually on the 3rd floor. Ask the front desk for one...

Excellent hotel. Very clean, room was perfect. Temperature ideal. Bed very comfortable - shower amazing! UK stations on TV (BBC1, 2 ITV etc). Also free wifi was very useful. Staff very helpful including bar staff and breakfast staff.
Breakfast was excellent - everything you can want from a breakfast - bacon, eggs, beans, mushrooms, tomato on the cooked side, then also range of breads and pastries, yoghurt, fruit, cheeses, cold meat, cereal, tea, coffee, juice. Buffet style.
Bar was comfortable and staff very good.
Ideal location for central Leuven. I walked from the station - weather was dry and I wanted the fresh air after my Eurostar journey - it was not far but would not be easy with heavy bags, especially as some of the streets are cobbled which looks fab but not easy to walk on!
I will be returning in a few weeks and will stay again.
There is no restaurant in the hotel which was surprise - although there are a few bar meals on offer.
The Improvisio Restaurant which is located behind the hotel was lovely and I would also recommend.

Always stay here on buisness trips. All staff reception and bar always very helpful and friendly. Very clean hotel and excellent intenet access.
The rooms I have stayed in are all very comfortable especially the beds. I have a bad back and normally have problems sleeping on hotel beds but have never had a bad nights sleep here.

This hotel is highly recommended by trip advisor fans for a very good reason! It is really perfect.
I was there at Christmas and we had a small room for under 120 euros. It was modern and had a nice cotton duvet and quality bed linens and pillows. The bathroom is amazing. It is large with a walk in shower that has several shower heads. The canal was just outside our window and also a very lovely old church. The room was extremely quiet. The breakfast, 20 euros , is pricey but the selection is wonderful. It includes a selection of meats, cheeses, pastries, eggs, cereal, and fruit and yogurt. We were in Leuven in a very cold rainy week, and the bar was a nice escape with a huge fireplace and comfy chairs. Reception was helpful and efficient. Location is just 5 minutes from the beautiful town center. No need for a car, just a short cobblestone walk!!

This hotel is completely renovated a few months ago. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Hotel bar and lobby are nice and cosy. The hotel is very good located in the center of Leuven. With a short walk to nice bars and restaurants. Number 1 hotel for a nice visit to Leuven!

Martins is well run and central. Our room was in the old part of the hotel, cosy but with very low beams indeed. It was also terribly cold and the room had a powerful stench of sewage which, although we reported it, nobody seemed interested in doing anything about. At over Euro200 a night, I would have expected better. The Kloosters Bar is great fun with a good selection of Belgian beer. Breakfast was dull and overpriced.

Room Tip: beware room 307

The hotel was excellent when it comes to location, atmosphere, comfort level and amenities (breakfast & bar). I travelled alone, and therefore when I walked into my super cozy room in the historical flemish part of the hotel I loved it immediately. Although it might have been a tiny bit smaller in size and the interior slightly older than the new modern part of the hotel, the room was amazing with super high attic-like ceiling, ancient windows and just such a nice flemish touch. I am usually super picky about bathrooms, and I thought this one was also great. I had a wonderful time at the bar which was great since I was traveling alone. The bar staff were super friendly and helpful, I got more help from them than the reception.

Room Tip: If you don't mind rooms with that come with antic furniture and are overall dimmer in the bedroo...
