“Nice hotel, but rather 4 then 5 Tripadvisor stars”
Reviewed 6 May 2013

This is a good and nice hotel, excellent situated in the city centre of Leuven. Perhaps the best hotel of Leuven. Parking is expensive, but possible in the hotel garage (parking on the street seems quite difficult). We stayed in a new hotel room, comfort level 'Charming', # 320. Breakfast is OK, but not that expansive as you sometimes encounter in other high rated hotels. Hotel doesn't have its own restaurant, but there are many alternatives nearby.

Satisfiers of the hotel:
* Nice garden with terrace;
* Fairly spacious room with a lot of light;
* Nice view on church and surroundings;
* Bathrope and slippers in hotel room;
* Good bed/matrass;
* Tasty white housewine.

Dissatisfiers:
* Bathroom with only a bath, no shower, nor a shower 'bar' in bath;
* Free wifi connection is unstable (in room 320 at least);
* Telephone is shining bright (annoying) light, can be solved by lying a cloth or something on top of it...

Having read previous reviews of this hotel I went for a double room in the old part of the building and ended up on the first floor overlooking the breakfast room and the gardens. Not only did the room have nice thick curtains but blinds as well. I have slept in various hotels all over Belgium and have experienced awful traffic/street noise and light issue problems in supposedly picturesque hotels, well I experienced none of that here, I was able to achieve an almost total blackout and heard virtually nothing from other guests or the street, the only thing that disturbed me was the dawn chorus! The room had T.V, wi-fi tea/coffee making facilities, artificial gas fire, lovely beams, comfortable double bed and a spa bath. There are extensive business facilities and a nice looking, if slightly expensive bar neither of which I used. Thought the breakfast was a bit overpriced at 20 euros so didn't bother, there are plenty of nearby bakeries if this isn't within your budget. All in all a very restful place to stay within easy walking distance of central Leuven and about a 20 minute walk to the station.

Room Tip: I slept in room 105, a double bedded room on the first floor of the old building and had no noise/li...

I spent six days at the hotel, along with other colleagues attending a conference in the city. The hotel visit was peaceful - my hotel room on the first floor was completely quiet. The hotel is an easy walk from the main city sites, and about a 20-minute walk from the station. The bar is a relaxing place to spend the evening, with a good range of drinks, a selection of bar snacks, a wood fire and friendly, helpful service.
If I'd been sharing the room, the translucent bathroom door with no lock would have irritated me - but I wasn't, so it didn't.

Room Tip: Two of us stayed in the old section and two in the new - it sounded as if the old section has better...

With a room in the new section adapted to my broken leg (handicapped accessible and very large), we spent a lovely couple of nights in Leuven. The decor was clean, modern, uncluttered and imaginative, but very warm and welcoming, a mix of grey and deep red tones. A coffee/tea pot was available in the room. The staff was very discreet, helpful when necessary. The bar was quite lovely in appearance, but closes quite early.
The location can't be beat, it's very central and within easy walking distance of everything. There is a certain charm and soul to this hotel that lacks in more established chains. Highly recommended if your travels lead you to Leuven.

Room Tip: I only stayed in the new rooms, but if you have mobility issues, the handicapped-accessible rooms ar...

We spent two snowy nights at Martin's Klooster Hotel this past weekend. We stayed in the new arm of the hotel and it was wonderful. Room 321 was terrific - well designed for a more than one night stay and sumptuous. Internet worked really well, breakfast was good, staff were gracious, hotel is light and airy and public space is elegant and bright...in a great and quiet location. We did not feel inclined to use the bar - it looked a bit lonely and forlorn....We would recommend the hotel highly. If you drive to the hotel, be careful how you arrive....one route is closed off via a bollard and it is difficult to reverse down the narrow lane way to get out...

Room Tip: Choose room 321 - it was lovely.

Martin's Klooster is in a terrific position in a small road close to the centre of town. It has been massively refurbished & is quite spectacular combining medieval with modern. The bar is spectacular with a courtyard which I am sure is amazing on a sunny June evening not a cold and rainy March night.

The staff are great but here's the downside...rooms in the old building have not been refurbished and are quite tatty. If you stay here then ask for a room in the new building which is great.

Room Tip: New building
