Sint Jacob Bed & Breakfast is a B&B unlike any other. Situated in the centre of Leuven, Belgium, the building has a very strong character: half-timbered, almost like a setting of Hans Christian Andersen's story. The owner employs minimum personnel, so there is neither receptionist, nor a bell boy to carry your luggage. After booking is confirmed and down payment made, you only need to call a number and they will open the front door for you (with a remote control mechanism or something like that). S/he will inform you about your room number and you can go there immediately after you arrive. You will find the door to your room open on which the key is hung. FYI, room nr. 1401 (the penthouse) is the best! It's a self-service B&B, so you make your own breakfast using the available ingredients in the fully-furnished kitchen. There's plenty to eat! You just have to do your own dish-washing afterwards. For the courtesy of other guests, leave everything clean and tidy. There are four private garages for you to park your car just around the corner. We paid €10/night. Leuven is a small city, so all sightseeing sites are within walking distance. Brussels is also a few minutes ride, so you can also consider staying here if you have a conference to attend in Brussels. I found this B&B on hostelworld.com, and I think it's worth mentioning here as well.
