Lovely dining experience. Lots of delicious options. The steak was the best thing I have ever eaten. Family had delicious sea bass and the lamb, also divine. Truly an excellent meal.

Since it's called Bistro Sud we expected a bistro, but the prices are more in the range of a gastronomical restaurant. Nevertheless you're sitting at a white painted table on old oak chairs with paper napkins you'd expect in a fast food restaurant. It's a cheap and cheerful setting that looks like a redecorated pizzeria. The air quality is average inside and a garlic smell penetrates the restraurant, toilets also could be cleaner. The waiter is very attentive and professional. The food is of good quality and well prepared but it takes very very long before you're served. They know how to manage expectations because there is a "slow food" sticker on the door (which normally stands for good clean and fair food, but not slow). When we asked the bill, they told us that it was cash only, which we didn't expect at this price level, the owner showed us the second sticker on the door saying "cash only" and explained where there was an ATM. We would seriously advise them to add another sticker on the door saying "looks like bistro, costs like a gastro but without the comfort". As a conclusion they have to change either the concept or the prices, and if they do so it might be a 100% satisfying experience.

People like you are the reason that many restaurants sooner or later have to close. all prices are posted on the sign outside. soup of the day 5 euros, 14 euros goat cheese salad, poelle the Bresse 19 euro, 22 euro rack of lamb, desserts 8 euros ..... maybe you should consider to choose a restaurant that better suits your budjet in the future. in bxl you find delicious kebab business and pizzerias where you probably can eat for 5 euros .... Unfortunately you do not have the interior of restaurant cospaia or the Belga Queen. Good fresh ingredients simply cost more, and a good preparation also requires more time. Can give you a good advice ? Stay away from restaurants that are not for you .... there are probably other where one is satisfied with a customer like you .....

The food is consistently between good and exceptional. Last night for starters we had a pâté with warm, crusty bread; we both had tuna tartare topped with raw scallops, a citrus foam, and watercress. Exceptional taste and wonderful plating. The tenderloin of wild boar was perfectly seared, still quite red in the middle as it should be. Make your selections in conversation with the chef. I find the atmosphere quite cozy and inviting, and the staff is attentive to a fault. Others have complained about the slow service; food of this quality takes time and attention. For those who find the service too slow, I might suggest finding a more suitable dinner companion.

The (slow) food is excellent and I enjoyed the 5 hours of a one-course-plus-dessert eve. But what is unacceptable is to have to eat alone, or in turns, when you are a group of 8 people, even more when you are limited to chose up to 4 dishes for organization reasons. What organization? I got my coffee 10 minutes after the person seating in front of me. In general they were very nice, but there was an issue with a dish we did not order and we had to take. Not cool. Finally we got to know that they gave us another dessert mistaken. Food was very good, maybe I will go another day... but alone, for organization reason.
Tip: Dont stay next to the door or you will mix the smell of the food with the cigarettes from customers and cooks

Me and two new colleagues got there on a Wednesday at 7:30 pm.
We asked how long the wait was for 3 people, and we were told "it depends if this table orders dessert. If not, 5 minutes" In the meanwhile, the cook came and sent us to a bar across the street. We shall have a beer and put it on his tap! We gladly went over. After 1h of waiting, I went over to ask if they had forgotten about us. "No, just a couple of minutes" It turns out we got seated at 9:15 pm... We were finally able to order at 9:30 pm because no one came before that... The food was served at 10:30 pm :S
At least, the food was delicious, but at this point, anything would have been.

We thought various times about simply leaving, but felt a little uncomfortable to have them just "pay our beer". Later on, we wanted to have dinner somewhere else but they obviously kept telling us the food was being prepared and about to be served...

The worst part clearly is that they had us pay everything. Some apologies regarding the everlasting wait but no dessert / water (we had 2 L since we waited so long) on the house...
