Our hotel overlooked this cafe bar and it is in a good location overlooking a canal, more for drinks I would say as the tables are pretty tight together, so much so that I struggled to get out of my seat as the chair behind was so close. I stumbled to the tight and fell two feet down from the terrace our table was on. I was lucky that I did not break anything, just cut my arm and foot pretty badly, there should definitely be a barrier along the terrace, pretty dangerous really.

Dear customer

We took your advice seriously and we put now a safety fence around our terrace.

Kind regards

Our first night in Bruge on Wednesday 20 June we saw the most beautiful restaurant on the other side of the canal and thought perfect! Expecting it to be booked out we were in luck and got a table right next to the canal.

Received the menu but unfortunately we couldn't understand it so asked the young guy if he could explain the 8-10 mains. Well, you would have thought I'd also asked for a breakdown of ingredients. 'That's a long list, what do you want to know?!' When we said we couldn't order anything if we didn't know what we were ordering he very quickly went through them and finished with 'If what you are after is steak and chips, I suggest you go to another restaurant!'.

We couldn't believe our ears and our first reaction was to leave in disgust but thought no, we hadn't done anything wrong, ordered and had very lovely mains, we didn't stay for dessert or coffee, we went elsewhere.

We weren't rude or obnoxious, we just wanted the dining experience to go with the setting. It spoil the night, all due to one individual and his attitude.

I have friends arriving in Bruge in August, they won't be dining here.

lovely terrace overlooking a canal, great on a sunny day! we stayed outside but the inside area is very nicely decorated with flowers and a glass pergola or veranda. Good place for drinks. We stayed for lunch and the small menu was fine. The goat cheese salad was very good, the burger was decent as well. I think this place caters more for drinks / parties than full-on restaurant experience and for that the setting is really great.

Thank you for posting this lovely review.
We are indeed not a full-on restaurant....we serve small bites, soulfood........everything very informal in a great setting.

A real shame - an unbelievably rude waiter serving overpriced drinks. Sadly the great location didn’t outweigh the shocking service. Would not go back

Incredibly we went here twice on two days. It is a lovely looking bar/restaurant right next to a canal so we thought what a perfect place for lunch. However after waiting for 30 mins the first time and being told to wait as they were busy, we left. The next day we came back to see if it was just a bad day, but no..........they were consistent.
The main waitress was so rude and stressed that when we asked if we could order a drink after having sat there for 20 mins, she just threw her hands up in the air and stormed off. Astonishing- a place to avoid until they get new management.
