Arrived very late after a long journey. Made welcome, large characterful room. Like stepping back in time. Lovely breakfast - lots to choose from even for a toddler.
Free parking directly outside and a short walk to the city.
All in all a recommended place to stay, in a great location.

Just spent the weekend in Bruges and stayed two nights at this lovely hotel. This was a surprise for my birthday and my partner booked it without my knowledge. Top marks to him for choosing this place to stay. I cannot believe some of the things people have written in previous reviews. Yes, this establishment is not ultra modern and is not fitted out like a generic chain hotel but this is what makes it so lovely. It is unique. The whole place is very clean and the service friendly. Breakfast was very good - the only comment I would make is that it would have been nice to have some more fresh fruit, perhaps bananas and oranges as well as the apples and fruit bowl which were on offer. Otherwise no issues with the food. The walk into town was an enjoyable 15-minute stroll - it was nice to get some exercise to walk off the chocolate and waffle indulgence! I would definitely recommend the Pannenhuis and should we ever return to Bruges, this is where we will stay.

An older style hotel but everything we encountered was clean (always our main criteria). Our room did not have any of the faults that other reviewers have listed.

Obviously there are things in any hotel that could be changed (I will not say improved because that is subjective).

Yes, it was expensive but then so is most of Belgium, and Bruges (like Brussels) will be at the top of that list.

I chose this hotel due to the location and easy walk into the centre (plus the availability of parking).

Most hotel breakfasts can be limited in choice but if you are only staying 2 nights (as we were) then it is not really an issue.

As we arrived on a Saturday we decided to eat in the hotel restaurant (having been caught out on other occasions by fully booked restaurants). But on this occasion it probably would not have been a problem.
The food in the restaurant was fairly typical of the menus displayed in Bruges. On the whole it was a pleasant meal.
I would certainly consider this hotel for any future stay in Bruges.

Well past its prime with bathroom and bedroom showing lots of wear and tear but quiet and with free parking outside and a short walk into the town it is worth considering. Bruges is expensive for accommodation so it is all a balance, but i would have liked to have seen the hotel 10 or so years ago. Breakfast was pretty average, so all in all a little run down even for a 3 star hotel and you could be disappointed if you were expecting a modern chic hotel on the outskirts of the old town.

in former years this may have been a quality place to stay. nowadays only the good location and the big and beautiful garden refer to those times. now the rooms smelled musty and looked like not renewed for centuries. the bathroom is fully plastic, the floor, the wall and even the sink! obviously they like plastics - we had plastic under the bedlinen! breakfast poor, parking for free.

We enjoyed staying at this hotel. Although a little dated in places it was clean, comfortable and spacious. The hotel grounds were immaculate and we enjoyed the large bedroom and tasty breakfast with homemade preserves. It was a bit of a walk into town (20 mins) but it was a very pleasant stroll and as Belgium is so flat it was no trouble at all. Being out of the city centre meant we got a quiet night's sleep and lots more elbow room. There was no tea and coffee in the room but the fridge meant we could keep out water and fruit nice and cold. Overall a pleasant stay and well priced in comparison to a lot of other places we looked at. Be warned, Belgium is a pricey destination in the current ecconomic climate. The average meal out will set you back 30 euros. And half a pint of beer will cost around 4. Very pretty but don't take a Scottish husband!

We arrived in Brugge after a troubling morning with two little girls. We arrived and asked the host of this fine establishment if we could stay at their hotel and have some breakfast. They readily accommodated us and made us feel right at home. The food was great, the hotel was beautiful, the grounds were well-kept, and the location was ideal...just outside the city gate where parking was free and the walk was short. I will stay here everytime I need a place to stay in Brugge.
