Overpriced! we paid 40 euros for a half hour tour. Unless you love horse & carriage rides, give it a miss!

Want to surprise your partner, try a long weekend in Belgium. Drive to Folkstone and 35 minutes later by Eurotunnel and you are in Calais with a couple of choices.Number 1 drive to a hotel in Ostend (about 75 mins from Calais) and use this as base or a further half hour sees you in Bruges. Both towns have miriad hotels to choose from. (Bruges is 20 mins from Ostend by very reasonably priced clean trains if you elect to stay there and see both places). Once in Bruges you have plenty to do ..churches and museums abound ... a visit to the beer wall .. scale the Belfort stairs at Markt .. visit the chocolate shops and eat in 1 of the many superb restaurents. Once you have done that there a 2 superb ways to see the city by boat on the canals or by horse and carriage (very romantic). At night there a plenty of bars and music venues,it's a great way to spend a few days and then just a short drive back to Eurotunnel. The shops chocs and ro3mantic carriage ride will delight your partner and tbe choice of beers helps the holiday too.

Was excited about doing this before I went, so I wasn't going to miss it. Do this before you go anywhere as you see loads of the town and will know where you want to go!
Firstly, the horses looked well looked after - good coat, good feet and the tack was immaculate. They are rested half way around the tour (15 mins in) and given food and water. The guide was very knowledgable and friendly enough. Also happy to answer questions as opposed to just reading her spiel. I did see another guide going round on his phone, which would have annoyed me, but my experience was very good. We shared with another British couple to save money, but all of us gave a tip of a couple of euros each.

Go early to avoid the queues for this great 35 min trip. The cost is 39. Euro so between 4 is good value. The guide is knowledgeable and they stop for 5/10 mins so the horse can have a rest and a drink. Pick the carriages up from the main square.

We did this on arrival at about 5pm - our guide was fantastic and we learnt a lot about sites and history of Brugge. It is expensive for 30 minutes but is something different to do and you get the personal touch from the guide
