“Worth it if there's a few of you”

A lovely way to see Bruges and our guide shared some interesting facts about the city during our tour. Not as long as we thought it would be, but the children loved it. The guide shamelessly asked for a tip too.

“Informative but pricey”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

I would recommend to do this tour on your first day to help get orientated with Brugge. Go early or late to avoid the long queue. Our guide was very good, she even recommended nice restaurants. It is pricey for two at €39 but we thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

“Share the cost to get good value”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

The horses seemed well looked after, they are given a rest, food and water half way around the tour. Our carriage driver/guide (Kimberley) was very knowledgeable and friendly enough. The fixed price is 39 euros, we shared with another British couple to save money, the carriage can fit 6 at a push, all of us gave a small tip for the inclusion of a tour commentary. Queues can be quite long so avoid the peak times of day.

“Wow! Look out for the yellow wheeled carriages.”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

We found out the price before we approached and knew it would be expensive (39 euros for half an hour), but it was totally worth it. Firstly, that is not each, so you can fit quite a crowd on one carriage.

The horses are not overworked and are only allowed to work once a week in low season and twice a week in high season. They are well treated and in excellent condition. Each carriage is colour coded to show which carriage belongs to who. We went on a dark yellow carriage and the driver was called 'Sid'. He spoke excellent English and gave a first class tour.

Many of the places we went back to visit, so I would recommend doing this earlier in your stay here so you get to know more local haunts.

We stopped halfway to give our horse, Zandini, a little break and to have photos taken with him.

Worth the money. A must do.

“Lovely way to experience Bruges”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

I have seen a few negative reviews of the carriage tours but lets put this in context. The carriage is a lovely way to explore historic Bruges and sets to highlight some areas you may which to go back to on your own. At 10 euros each for four of us I don't think that is excessive. We have done this several times on various visit to Bruges and would say the best time to do this is early evening when the day trippers have all gone back to their coaches and ferries.
