“BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO VISIT”
Reviewed 6 May 2014 via mobile

We came for a day trip as we spent the day before in France and thought we'd take a trip to Bruges as we'd heard it was beautiful.
What a thoroughly enjoyable visit we had! I had read on trip advisor prior to our visit about the parking situation. I followed the advice of someone on here and it worked out a dream. We drove to Bruges Train Station where we parked in a large covered car park for 3.50 euros (for upto 24 hours). The car park ticket gives you a free return bus ride to the market square, which is the centre of this historic city. Bus number 2 or 12 takes you straight there (5 minute journey).
Having no clue whatsoever about how to get about or what to see, it didn't take us long at all to get our bearings. If you walk into the building that the bus stops outside, you can get a map although we hardly looked at it. A short stroll and we found ourselves on one of the bridges over the canal, and from here we purchased tickets for a boat ride which cost 7.60 euros each for a 30 minute trip. Highly recommended.
After finding somewhere to have lunch, we continued our walk about taking lots of photos along the way. If you didn't already know, Bruges is a chocolate and beer lovers paradise! We couldn't go home without tasting a scrumptious Belgian waffle, fully loaded with fresh strawberries, chocolate sauce and cream!! A perfect way to spend a sunny bank holiday Monday, and we will definitely return and next time book a hotel room too.
Oh, one thing to mention, you can't take a pee in Bruges for free!!!! Unless you are in a restaurant eating or drinking, you have to pay to pee - 50 cents. A small price to pay though, this place really is beautiful and is somewhere that you will want to visit again and again. We certainly will.

Beautiful city with amazing architecture. The canals are stunning. Such a shame we were only there for 1 day. Will definitely return for a longer visit in the future.

Quaint, clean and interesting. But be warned it is very touristy. With the restaurants and bars charging a premium.

“Great medieval atmosphere!”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

This is the must do of Bruges. The city is all about enjoying its historic center, the churches, buildings, chocolate shops, canals and relax atmosphere. This is a must-visit town in Belgium.
