“Incredible hotel”
Reviewed 28 March 2014 via mobile

My husband and I just stayed at the Grand Hotel Casselburgh for 3 nights and we were beyond thrilled. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, and it's located in the perfect location - literally a 3 minute walk to Markt.

We had an executive double room and it was very spacious and so pretty. The king sized bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had a shower and the largest bathtub I've ever seen. L'occitane bath products were a nice plus!

The hotel staff was also great - friendly and helpful. My husband had to get a few things scanned and printed and they were extremely accommodating.

I would absolutely recommend this hotel, and will be sure to stay here again on our next visit to Bruges. Be sure to relax and have a drink in one of the sitting rooms by the reception area - they are spectacular.

We stayed for a few nights to enjoy Bruges. We took a taxi from the station and were pleased at the location of the hotel. The greeting at reception was not very warm but we had reserved an executive room so we had a room in the older main hotel, on the first floor. The room was lovely. Very grand with high ceiling, beautiful drapes, stunning chandelier and lovely bathroom. The room was very quiet and the included breakfast was very good. It was a buffet breakfast in a very comfortable dining room. The reception rooms are beautiful. Again, sumptuous drapery and chandeliers. There is no restaurant apart than for breakfast, but there is a bar. The hotel did have a wellness area with a sauna etc, but we did not try it. The location was excellent. Easy walk to all of the attractions of Bruges. I recommend this hotel, but the staff at reception could be a little warmer in their greeting. The included free wifi was welcome and all hotels should offer this service at no additional charge.

Excellent hotel well placed in Bruges. Very comfortable rooms, staff very polite and helpful and the breakfast was fantastic. We had been led to believe it was just a continental style. It was most delicious absolutely everything you could wish for, full english and continental. We found some excellent restaurants for dinner all within easy walking distance. The nibbles provided with your drinks in the bar area and lounges were superior to anything we have been offered elsewhere. Would definitely recommend this hotel for it's quality, service and style to anyone planning a visit to Bruges. The hotel came as part of our tour package, we could not have picked better if we had chosen it ourselves.

My boyfriend booked me a surprise break for my 30th birthday to Bruges and booked this hotel. This was out first time in Bruges and we have both said we would love to return at some point.

The hotel is in a great location approximately 3 minutes walk from the main square, perfect location. We were in the modern part of the hotel and the room was gorgeous, we couldn't have asked for anything more. The room was immaculately clean and the bathroom was (literally!) sparkling. The staff were friendly and very helpful.

The breakfast was lovely, everything that you could possible ask for from a hotel breakfast and more. We had drinks in the hotel bar one evening, would definitely recommend, our drinks arrived accompanied by gorgeous chocolates!

We would definitely stay at this hotel again and I have already recommended it to friends and family! A must stay in Bruges!

Stayed 4 nights having travelled by Eurostar. Easy taxi ride from Bruges station. Only cost 8 euros. Hotel is really central and couldn't be better situated. Reception rooms and bar area very pleasant and well furnished in old period part of hotel. Our double bedroom was in modern extension at rear of hotel. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts abundant and catering for most tastes. No need for lunch. Lots of good restaurants nearby for dinner. We were lucky to enjoy fine weather and not too many tourists. They come later in year. Chocolates are mouth watering. A boat trip on the canal is recommended.

Room Tip: We were in a standard room 2009 in modern part at back of hotel. Very quiet with a view of canal. Ex...

We spent 3 nights in a 'de luxe' room with a vaulted ceiling and lots of beams. Very spacious and comfortable, but at times not always warm enough - maybe the high ceiling. It was on the 3rd floor, the lift only goes to the 2nd, then there is a marble spiral staircase which could be difficult for some. We managed and found the room very comfortable - a sofa and two comfortable chairs, but limited space for clothes. The bar was wonderful, with a number of rooms offering space for a relaxing drink. Excellent service from the blond barmaid and the house wine very reasonably priced for a hotel of this quality! Breakfast good quality and reasonable range. On a negative side, there were no warm plates for the hot food, which meant it went cold very quickly. Again very good service. Efficient left luggage and taxi booking. Shame it doesn't have a restaurant, or at least light meals in the bar. Would have made the stay almost perfect! We had a good deal via a tour operator which made the price very acceptable.

Room Tip: beware some rooms up narrow marble spiral stairs

We stayed here on a Wednesday and Thursday night in one of executive rooms in the historic part of the building on the back corner so just had a view of the canal and fish market.
Lovely furnished room, huge bathroom with shower and extra long bath just what was needed for a long soak after all the walking
Tranquil setting for breakfast with good quality food although a fried egg would have been nice (no egg/omelette station - only scrambled or fried eggs). Bar prices were also very reasonable
Would I return - YES -tomorrow if I could! but definitely on my next annual beer trip to Brussels
