WE got upgraded as the previous reviewers that the sister hotel was overbooked. Grand Hotel Casselbergh is located near the central of the town. The accessibly to everywhere is only walking distance. Staff there are nice and friendly, even though the cleaners are polite and helpful. Breakfast is seriously superb that you can have fresh squeezed orange and grapfruit juice to choose. Back bacon, scarmbled/boiled eggs, sausages, cornflakes, different types of breads are basically provided but smoked salmon, ham, cheeses and cold cut are also available. Tea and coffee will be served by the waitress there as soon as you sit down. Everything is just nicely presented.
The lounge is the place you shouldn't miss. The bar service is from 12noon to 2400. Towards the end of the lounge, a smoking room is provided. All the rooms there are decorated with styles and crstyal chandeliers. Excellent decro and friendly staff! Even though you don't drink anything, you still can sit there wihtout being hassled.
We haven't tried the spa either since we only spent 2 nights there. Maybe some other reviewers could give us an insight. We might go back and try one day!

Like the previous reviewer we were booked in at the sister hotel who had overbooked. We were very glad that we were moved to this hotel and it was much better.

The room was luxurious with great beds, the bathroom huge with a walk in shower, sunken bath and lovely toiletries and the air con was the best we had encountered in any Belgian hotel.

The breakfast was wonderful, well stocked and efficiently run and delicious. Everything on offer including eggs, bacon, sausage, cheese, meats, fruit, yoghurts, pastries etc etc.

The location is central, staff friendly.

The only negative comment I would make is that the hallway outside our room smelt badly of drains for the whole 3 days, although the room itself did not.

We did not visit the spa downstairs or the bar.

I would stay again at this hotel at anytime!

We originally had reservations at a sister hotel. When we arrived at that hotel we were informed that they had overbooked that hotel and as a result had upgraded us to the Grand Hotel Casselbergh. The Casselbergh is a wonderful hotel with a well trained staff, located just steps away from the center Market. The room was well proportioned with a comfortable bed and a bathroom that featured a bathtub as well as a shower with a rain shower head. The toiletries were L'Occitaine. The bar was a quiet oasis after a busy day or for a late evening drink. The breakfast room was large, roomy, and the breakfast included eggs, meats, cereal, yoghurts, fruit, breads, rolls, and best of all pain au chocolate. And the best coffee I had in Europe.

A grand hotel and a great experince.

Bruges was at the end of our camping holiday so we decided to splash out on a really nice hotel. We weren't disappointed with the Casselbergh!

I shopped around looking for good reviews, a central location, something a little bit special but not breaking the bank. This hotel is right in the centre of the town just a minute or so away from the market square. We opted against the hotel's own parking as it seemed a little expensive and instead parked in the underground Pandreitje carpark which is clearly signed as soon as you enter the town and was more reasonable at €8 a day, safe and easily walkable.

The lobby area and bar are absolutely beautiful and the staff are very attentive. Our room was in the new wing which looks as if it has been designed to compliment the older more traditional rooms as it has high ceilings and well proportioned rooms. We had the cheapest room available at €115 a night which included a kingsize bed, seating area, desk, minibar, huge window, ample wardrobe space, a beautiful modern bathroom with bath and separate shower, air-conditioning, hair-dryer, safe, tea and coffee facilities, laundry service, telephone, multi-lingual TV, very heavy blackout curtains (could have slept all day!). Toiletries provided in the bathroom were l’Occitane which were lovely!

Breakfast was a fantastic spread with just about anything you could wish for. Boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, fruit, cold meats, smoked salmon, cheeses, patisserie, cereals, several types of bread and juices and also thoughtful touches like chocolate milk for children.

My only regret is I didn't realise there was a free spa in the cellars until I got home - gutted!

We booked our weekend at the last minute and this was only the hotel that matched our requirements and wasn't overly too expensive. We found an internet offer of 190Euros B&B for one night, which after staying here we found quite reasonable. The hotel is very conveniently located right close to the main Square and hubub of bars and restaurants. It was pristine and very nicely decorated.. it was a mix between old French (lots of chandeliers etc !) and modern.. We think the hotel must have been recently refurbished as everywhere was clean and newly painted and the furniture looked very new - not worn ..
They very kindly gave us a free upgrade to a Deluxe room - right at the top where they usually put the honeymooners ! It was in a quiet location and was a lovely huge room with vaulted ceilings and wooden beams, a large bathroom,(with L'Occotaine products!) separate rainfall shower, a lovely comfortable bed AND tea and coffee making facilities! which is really unheard of in European countries. There was also a smoking lounge in the hotel ! so my husband was able to sit and relax with his cigarette rather than having to stand outside !! He hasn't done that in years !!
Breakfast was very nice too ! It was in a lovely light airy room with huge buffet serving scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, boiled eggs, loads of different types of French bread, lots of meats - different types of ham & salamis, cheeses, Smoked Salmon, pastries and croissants ! (no pain au chocolate by the time we got there tho!!) and fresh fruits and yoghurts ! ...and tea and coffee served in nice silver pots !
We enjoyed our one night stay here and would stay again if the price is right ! The staff were very helpful and I would definitley recommend it to others..

Situated in beautiful location, just off main belfry tower square, this hotel is a really elegant building and the decor is divine. A lot of thought has gone into every aspect of this hotel. The room was delightful with the most comfy of beds (great night sleep!), the foyer was very grand and the bar area was a real delight. I felt like I was lady of the manor with the beautiful furnishings! The food was excellent, with a large choice of breakfast items. Even full english. Very recommended if you want a real treat. Staff were friendly and helpful.

For what I paid (£105 without breakfast), I thought it was good value for what we got.

The location is fantastic, and our room in the new wing was spacious and clean. The bathroom - which had a shower as well as a bathtub - was spotless. Free WIFI is available, and there are two computers for use in the public areas. There is also a small but adequate gym (albeit with virtually no ventilation or towels). We were provided with lovely toiletries, quite rare in European hotels in my experience.

Service was generally friendly - we asked the front desk staff for help to reconfirm our dinner reservations which were made via email, as well as train information. They were slightly stretched at times, but they handled things well. Our request for an iron and ironing board was met promptly.

A few small things to note:

1) The hotel only have twin beds - we asked if they had a single double bed on the second day as there was quite a gap, and were told no but that 'they would do something about it'. Basically they relaid the sheets such that it was one sheet covering both beds :) Not a big issue.

2) I forgot my toothbrush. When I called to ask for one, I was told the hotel does not provide dental sets. It was a hard lesson learnt, as shops were closed at that hour. The hotel did not indicate if they had one for sale. Again, no biggie.

I think at this rate, location, big size and comfort, and service are very good. I would definitely stay here again.
