Description: This is a lunch/afternoon dining coffee salon. They do salads and pasta and pastries and ice cream and the food is fantastic. They only opened in December 09 but they are people who care about food and know food. It's down a little side street in Brugge. We had an absolutely gorgeous lunch there last Monday

My wife and I happened across this little Salon on a rainy afternoon in Bruges. We had a cappuccino and a tea, and it cost €9 - expensive but well worth it, and we went back for more the next day. Each drink came with a delicious shortbread biscuit and a swirl of chocolate mousse. We could see this was a place to have lunch, and the food aroma was delicious. The Salon is run by two gentlemen who present themselves, their food and drink, and the premises, in pristine and neat style. If you're looking for a restaurant for dinner, ask here. They recommended Lieven to us and it was terrific.

It is a smart and somewhat 'twee' cafe which serves savoury food and very nice cakes. The prices are high: my two small cakes (I was told in no uncertain terms by the guy who served me that I could not have just one of the cakes, it had to be two as they formed a "well matched pair")
and a pot of Earl Grey tea was nearly 12 euros. The service was abrupt, bordering on unfriendly.

I would go there again just to see if service was better and to try savoury dishes.

We were a party of four adults & three children who entered this establishment for coffee and snacks on a chilly 30th December 2013. From the outset the owner was rude, but put several tables together for our group, and took our order. One of our group on searching for an item in a bag removed and placed on the table several bottles of special formula and a baby's bottle required for my intellectually disabled 8 year old adorable nephew. On seeing this the Owner suddenly and with unbelievable contempt shouted at us to get out and said 'This is not a McDonald's, you cannot bring your own food in here'.

He was completely unwilling to engage in any conversation or explanation, and ranted abuse at us all, also saying we do not do this in Belgium....so aside from being RUDE, OBNOXIOUS, unsympathetic to the needs of the disabled, he is also a racist.

We tried to explain that the items were taken out of the bag only to search for something, and that the bottle and formula were required for a child with special needs, but he said you have no baby with you, and continued to rant.

It was a truly upsetting incident, particularly for the children, the like of which we have never encountered anywhere else.

A man such as this should not be dealing with people, and is a disgrace to the otherwise friendly Belgian people. If he did not want families, or young children, in his establishment he should have said this from the outset, and not seated us or taken our order.

I see from several other reviews on this site that we are not the first to encounter this man's unwarranted and extraordinary abuse. Though the establishment and food does look good no amount of good chocolate mousse compensates for his behaviour.

We stopped by for a cup of coffee whilst out shopping. Average coffee, expensive, & inordinately rude service. No cards unless you spend €25

Fantastic lunch with great service, we didn't want anything too heavy and the food was simple and executed very well at a fair price. The coffee with a homemade mousse and biscuit were served to round off the meal nicely. We were return on our next visit for sure!
