“Worth the Effort!”
Reviewed 26 June 2014 via mobile

We had 7 days in Brugge and twice tried to book for this restaurant and on our last day managed to have lunch here. We are so pleased that we did as this little gem is worth the effort, my wife had the lunch special and for 12.5 euro was amazed with soup and plenty of refills, steak that was quite a large piece and cooked just right and a coffee. Myself, I had the baked potatoes with shrimp and what a large plate so go with a good appetite.
This place is run by husband ( chef) and wife with help from father who are all very pleasant and helpful. This lady come to our table and asked where we are from(Australia) and also where were are staying and what we had seen. This is a must visit restaurant with good basic home cooking, super fresh ingredients and great service, good plate size and very pleasant atmosphere. Don't miss and make sure to book!

“No class”
Reviewed 25 June 2014

I had a confirmed (via email) reservation for this place at 1pm today for lunch. Made it before leaving California. So, wife and I go thru the ordeal of getting from Los Angeles to Brugges and after much ado find this out-of-the way place...arriving at 1:15 pm....only to find a "closed" sign on the locked front door. I looked thru the windows and saw folks dining inside...but we were unable to get in. This experience was beyond rude...I would have to urge all travelers from the US to stay away. I wasted half of my one day in Brugges on this place...a heavy price to pay for nothing.

“Excellent experience!”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

Wonderful experience - interesting menu, very tasty food (everyone raved about the traditional Flemish stew), good beers and wines, cozy and quirky interior, lovely hosts. A little bit out of the main/central area, but absolutely worth the walk (maybe 10-15 mins from the main square). Definitely book - several parties were turned away while we were there on a Thursday night (Nathalie is very responsive via email info@bistroprodeo.be, she is also a good source of advice on things to see/do while in Bruges).

“Quirky good range of local style food”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

Visited Bruges with family who selected this restaurant, with its Mod connections as we come from Brighton.

I had the steak which was tender and juicy, if a little underdone for my medium rare taste. Wine we had was good and family commented on the quality of their food very positively, particularly the casserole.

Initial service was a little stretched and had to wait a little while to get drinks. We had the table all night from 8PM, so not rushed even during a thunderstorm.

“Wonderful Experience, Delicious Food, and Gracious Host!”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

This restaurant is amazing! It is small in size, so be sure to make a reservation as we saw some people getting turned away. The food is delicious!! I chose the stuffed baked potatoes with shrimp etc. and my husband had the short ribs. Our hostess was very kind and charming as well as appreciative of our business. She and her husband run the entire restaurant and you can sense the attention to detail and love they put into their restaurant. We LOVED this place. We took a cab, otherwise it would have been about a 15 minute walk from our hotel, so just slightly off the beaten path, but we walked back. Well worth the trip and not touristy. As a side note, we had our two kids with us (ages 9 & 12), they were the only kids there, but our hostess made them feel very much at home as well. We made an early reservation and were glad we did. By the time we left, the restaurant was full.
