“Good location- clean hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 July 2014

This hotel is located right next to the train station. I was traveling with my young daughter and elderly mom, so the location was perfect for us as we did not need to walk for a long ways with our luggage to get to our hotel. The hotel was clean and the staff were effecient. My daughter loved the bunk over the bed. She felt is was her own private area and asked for a bed like this at home. We walked each day into town to see the sites. We loved the market just down the escalator from the hotel (next to the train station). We would go there to purchase our drinks, fruit, bread and meat for lunch each day and also to take on the train the day we departed for Amsterdam. The hotel room as well as the grounds are kept very clean. We were happy with our choice to stay here. The hotel and rooms are very modern (and the rooms are very small)- so if you are looking for small town charm- you will not get it here. On our last night here- an amazing band was playing at the bar near the hotel. We sat outside eating our dinner and listening to this band and had a fantastic evening.

Room Tip: Our room for 3 was perfect with a double bed under and a single bunk over.

Out the main entrance of the central train station, turn right, walk approx 70 metres & head up either the steps or the escalator located next to the Carrefour supermarket. At the top, walk straight ahead for approx 100 mts & you’ll come to the steps & the lift, on your right hand side, that take you to the front entrance of the hotel, so, a maximum of 2 to 3 minutes walk from the train station. A nice, pleasant but busy foyer area gives a good first impression. Checking in was friendly but lacked a lot of privacy as several other people hovered around to check in at the same time with the filling in of a registration card leading to more people using the reception desk than should have at one time. I certainly would have preferred to have had other guests standing further away from me when I was entering my credit card pin number.
Two lifts adjacent to the reception desk & we were quickly up to our non smoking room on the 5th floor. No room key or card to gain access to the room which was entered by punching in a 6 digit code using the keypad on the door. Our room took me back a little as it was most definitely on the very small side for a triple & it did in fact feel, quite claustrophobic. I knew the room would be basic in it’s facilities but it was bright, very clean & very quirky . A very comfortable double bed with a single bunk overhead, vinyl & laminate wood flooring, wall mounted tv with just 3 English language channels (BBC1, BBC2 & ITV), excellent air con, at least 3 spare electrical sockets, tall mirror, smoke alarm, room lights controlled from the headboard, small wash hand basin & towels.
The large shower cubicle was located in the bedroom rather than in a separate space. The shower head on hose had good pressure & plenty of hot water but once fitted to it’s wall bracket, the angle could not be adjusted meaning that standing at the front of the cubicle was the only option for having a shower. Hair & body wash was supplied. The toilet was located in a small cubicle next to the shower with a door that did not have a lock.
No wardrobe (just hangers), no tea/coffee facilities, no iron, no shaving socket, no hairdryer, no coffee table, no luggage rack.
Plenty of natural light thanks to a tall, narrow window & sleep quality was excellent, as, even though our room faced out on to the railway tracks, we had no issues whatsoever with noise from inside or outside of the hotel.
Breakfast was served in a room off the foyer from 06.30 to 11.00 & cost 7.50 Euros each. We went down at 10.00 & it was very busy but there was still a small number of tables available. The room itself was not adequately sized for the number of tables packed in to it with very little room between the tables. Two people queuing at the coffee machine at the same time & no way past them. Breakfast itself was okay with whole fruits, pastries, toast, breads & rolls, cereals, sliced ham, pate, cheese, yoghurts (but with plastic teaspoons), apple & orange juices, flavoured teas, instant coffee in sachets & a range of coffees from a coffee machine.
There was an internet corner with one terminal, but no printer, located in the foyer but we used the excellent free wifi which was available throughout the hotel. Also in the foyer were vending machines with small tins of beer costing 2.50 Euros each & small bottles of water at 2.00 Euros each. Much cheaper to buy your snacks, water, beer, soft drinks etc in the Carrefour Express located no more than 2 minutes walk from the hotel.
City maps were on sale at reception for 50 cents each which is not going to bust even the tightest budget but it’s the first time I’ve seen a hotel charging for maps which are usually available, free of charge.
Checking out was quick & hassle free due to the fact that guests are asked to pay when checking in.
For just one night in a clean, very basic hotel, at a reasonable price, close to the train station & an easy stroll to the attractions of Bruges, this hotel just about ticked the boxes but for a longer stay, I would probably have wished that I had booked somewhere else with less Spartan room facilities.

The room is small, spotlessly clean and location is great. The hotel was quite difficult to find at first as our sat-nav took us somewhere completely different and there is no sign that we could see. Parking was very convenient and check-in very smooth. We had the room directly next to the reception and overlooking the tracks, so we were a little concerned at first about noise, but this was not a problem at all. When we left I forgot my Kindle in the room which they found and posted back to me. (Thank you!) Highly recommended and would definitely stay again if visiting Bruges!

Satnav took me to the other side of the railway tracks which involved some cussing. Google maps on my phone eventually led me to me to the door; drive into the Centrum Station Parking, up to the top deck of the public car park, and the hotel is facing you up some stairs. There are two lifts. All very accessible and tranquil.

The hotel was formerly the Etap and is still very bright and shining after the refurb.

Room is just big enough for two close friends, mine is facing the railway track, but there is little noise. Staff welcome was fine. There is a supermarket and half a dozen places to eat within 100 metres. Bring a bike, or hire one below the hotel.

My UK price was 45 pounds per night, which is excellent. Join Club Accor for discounts. Breakfast is €7.50 but there are plenty of eateries nearby. There is free Wifi (I am typing this from the room) and an internet terminal in the lobby.

There are towels, but bring a bath towel and some soap. Bed is king size and firm. A couple of extra pillows for lounging would nice. There is a Lux soap dispenser in the shower cubicle. Two power sockets under the bed table, and one under the TV. Coat hangers will be useful as there are only two hooks for hanging, plus five hangers under a shelf. Full length mirror though. Everything works well in the room. There's Air-con if you need it. Window opens.

Pretty good at the price, and a nice place for a budget weekend in Brugge. Can recommend it, and only a couple of hours away from the Channel Tunnel.

Room Tip: Book early. Rooms overlooking the railway track get the sun in the evening. Try room 136.

For what I paid, this was fine. I expected it to be like it was, but it was clean and the location was convenient to the train station. That made for a great place to drop my luggage and explore the city. The room was tiny, but functional. Don't expect too many frills, but for what it is, it's fine.

Our plans changed at the last minute, so we needed a place to stay in Bruges at the last minute, near the train station. This hotel was perfect.
Very very basic rooms (nothing fancy) but it was clean, practically inside the train station and the staff were friendly. It is exactly as advertised. The shower head that lights up green was a weird but funny touch.
Not sure I would stay again, but we had a pleasant stay.
