Stayed with friends and our little ones. Beautiful house and fantastic location! Peaceful and able to walk to most of Bruge. Would highly recommend.
We've stayed at the red house 6 times in 8 years. It is a really fantastic place and we're visiting again in May!
We are a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 young girls both under 5). I had booked the trip to Bruges as a surprise birthday present for my Wife and so hoped that Bruges and the Red House would be equally delightful and enjoyable as our first city break with the kids. We were not disappointed despite the mixed weather (quite a bit of rain!). The beauty of the Red House is in the fact it is such a comfortable and well appointed traditional house in a reasonably quiet spot in Bruges, but that it is in a delightful location with a lovely walk by the canals into the centre (no more than 15 mins stroll to Markt etc). I also loved the fact that it is a relatively straightforward drive from the ferry port to the house (only 8 or 9 miles I think) and the ability to book the garage is a big plus point. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby (although many of the ones near to the house were closed for the few days we visited, which wasn't a problem as the ones in the centre are not far away) and a carrefour express for milk and bread etc is 10 mins stroll. On top of all of this I found Richard (the owner) to be really helpful with questions we had via email, and when he discovered the DVD player was broken , he endeavoured to make alternative arrangements, which was a godsend for our little girls who watched Shrek 2 over and over again (one of the many DVDs stocked at the house). If we return to Bruges we will certainly book The Red House again and would recommend it to friends and family.
We stayed here with our three childeren. Perfect place. Within a 10 minute walk we were at the market. The house is cosy and clean. It was very nice to have a dishwasher and oven.
Parking spot is just around the corner.
After a long day in the centre we enjoyed one of the many great movies on the shelf ;-)
I had some questions and I received an answer in very short time.
This is how it always should be!
This my 4th i have stayed at the house and yet again had a great time. It is warm and cosy, in a good location to walk to the centre of Bruges, but far enough away from the masses of people visiting for the Christmas market. He was difficult to get a seat in bars and restaurants without booking at this time of year, so we made the most of drinks and nibbles back at the house! We parked the car in the garage and left it there all weekend!
The Red House was perfect for our party of four, two adults and two children. The house and parking garage was very easy to find and in a perfect location. We easily walked to all the main sites from the house. The neighborhood felt very safe and friendly. I highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to Bruges!
I love the Red House and this was my fifth or sixth stay. The house is situated in a peaceful, historical area of magnificent Bruges, in an area where houses date back to the 1600s. Although it is off the main tourist drag, it remains central -- about a fifteen minute walk east of The Markt (Market Square). It is spacious enough for more than two people (there were 3 of us, all occupying a room each, unbothered by one others' snoring!). Moreover, Bruges has always been an expensive place to eat out, but now the pound is so pathetically weak, we were so grateful to have the excellently equipped kitchen, more than ever. As usual, we would like to thank the owners, Richard and Elizabeth, for the privilege of enjoying their wonderful property. We look forward to staying again soon.
