“Wonderful city and wonderful hotel...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 September 2011

The Pand Hotel is a very gracious place and the staff are very helpful; public rooms are relaxing and beautifully appointed. The breakfast is 'extra' and appears expensive - but it is worth the treat. You can 'eat healthy' (e.g. egg white omelets) or not....The free city tour that comes with your room was terrific - the day we went we were the only two on the tour. The guide was able to personalize it to our interests. We had a lovely junior suite. We were delay a day because of Hurricane Irene. The hotel has a 7 day cancellation policy - but they did not charge us for that day (we stayed 3 nights rather than 4).

Room Tip: junior suites are lovely

Went to Brugge for an overnight stay with my wife, our youngest son and a couple of very good friends from our youth, who booked another room in the same hotel. We had a junior suite and the comfort was great, the staff super-friendly and helpful and the breakfast amazing, with a waiter by our side. Brugge is a perfect tourist resort if the weather is fair and we were lucky on this occasion. We went on a tour in a horse-driven carriage and on a boat-tour, we ate in a lovely Italian restaurant and drank famous Belgian beer. The only draw-back is the lack of a garage big enough to accommodate a 4x4, but there is an underground public car-park very close-by. We would gladly return to this cosy hotel!

Room Tip: try the suites rather than the smaller double rooms

We had a wonderful time at the Pand. We also stayed in one of the Ralph Lauren suites that have been commented on by prior reviewers. We found the hotel employees to be the most friendly of all the hotels we stayed at on our vacation.

I particularly want to comment on the common areas. The hotel is small in size, but the common areas feel like a beautiful warm and cozy living room/library that is quite inviting. We had hot chocolate twice there, and it was a sumptuous experience, with several extra dessert treats. Our teenage daughter loved the place!

As previously mentioned, the hotel is situated on a quiet street, but is just steps away from the central canal. market square, and all the shopping.

I notice that the Pand is rated #9 in Bruges on TA. This says something about the quality of Bruges as a vacation desitination, if they have that many hotels of this level. I would recommend this hotel highly, and wish that other European cities had more hotels as wonderful as this one.

Stayed in one of the Ralph Lauren Suites at the PAND in August for three nights.

Very cosy hotel with 'old world charm' and 1st class service. Room was very well appointed and had a real feel of quality and attention to detail. Quiet location but only minutes from the main Square.

No hesitation in recommending this hotel.

For our 35th wedding anniversary we received a gift voucher for the Pand Hotel from our children. Our oldest son stayed here with his family on several occasions and he always raves about this hotel and now we know why!

The moment we walked in we were very impressed with the building. A carriage house from the 18th century, ... the bar, library and breakfast room already looked very promissing.
The reception staff were extremely friendly. My husband used to travel a lot for his work and he found it very unusual to be treated so kindly.
The receptionist explaned the package our children booked for us, the Romantic and Historic Bruges Package with a dinner in a gastronomic restaurant, a private guided city tour, ... you only celebrate one time your 35th wedding anniversary....
From beginning to end it was fantastic! The Ralph Lauren Jr Suite on the fourth flour was absolutely superb with a fairytale view, the breakfast cooked before our eyes on the Aga stove, the house guide Rudy showed us the sights and the dinner at Kardinaalshof, delicious!
We would like to thank everybody for making this trip so special and my husband agreed on celebrating our 36th anniversary also here with our children.

We very much enjoyed our 2 day stay in Brugge. We asked for 2 quiet rooms adjacent and got exactly that - Ralf Lauren Suites. Wonderful rooms with elegant furniture, spectacular views over the roofs of Brugge and luxurious bathrooms with whirlpools. Our car could be parked in an exclusive garage next to the house.

Staff were absolutely friendly, helpful, professional and welcoming at the reception, the bar and in the breakfast room. The Pand feels like a relaxing oasis in a busy city full of tourists with very much attention to detail. The interior design is fabulous - at least we can say that about the rooms we saw and the public areas. We particularly enjoyed breakfast - watching our eggs being prepared on the Aga. Plenty of lovely fresh fruit, cereals, bread etc. One suggestion: I prefer to have a duvet in bed and not blankets. I asked for a duvet but was told there were none available. As many people do prefer duvets over blankets it would be good to also offer this option if requested. For myself I did not mind that much as I had my own in the car which I then took up to the room.

We highly recommend The Pand, our expectations were surpassed.

We stayed at the Pand Hotel in Bruge for two nights in June for part of our Honeymoon trip to Bruge and Paris. We wanted somewhere a little more upscale for this trip as it was for a special ocassion and we informed the Pand the reason for our visit. We arrived at the hotel in a taxi and were greeted imediantly by a young man who helped with our luggage. He checked us in and also offered us complimentary champagne to enjoy on an evening of our choice as it was our honeymoon. We thought this was a lovely gesture - and the chanpagne was great! The hotel is beautiful - in a traditional granduer kind of way. It probably won't be to everyones tastes with its decor as it is traditional rather than modern in its choice of fabrics and decor. This was a pleasent change for us as we often stay in more modern hotels. It felt all the more special having the traditional touches, rather than a run of the mill modern chain hotel. We had the room on the top floor - there is a teeny tiny lift that gets you up there (there are also stairs, but I would avoid these as they are spiral and so small it feels like you may trip down them. The lift fits two people in at a push, but as the hotel is quite compacted and small it is sufficient. Very quirky as it has two coat hooks inside the lift, although I am not sure why this is? Your suitcases are taken upstairs by the effecient receptionist after you have been shown your room.
The room on the top floor was in the black and white floral Ralph Lauren fabrics and wall paper. It was stunning in its decor, and was the room I had hoped we would be given after browsing their website before the trip. Although the room is stunning - it IS small. It was fine for two people though, but space was limited - especially as the ceiling is quite low in places, and the two suitcases we had taken took up quite a bit of floor space. There was a small wardrobe with a full length mirror inside one of the doors - useful for getting ready in the evening. Also there was a fabulous four poster bed and a dressing table with a large mirron above it for drying your hair/putting on make-up etc. There were a couple of chairs for relaxing in. I found it odd that there was no bedside tables as such, but rather a foldable table with fabric on top. The bathroom was beautiful. Very clean! Two sinks - very plush. His n Hers. We had a jucuzzi Bath which worked! I notice some reviewers had ones that didn't work - but outs definatly worked - when I switched it on it was so bubbly I nearly pounced back out the bath! It was great to open the big windows in the bathroom though and look out over the roof tops of Bruge whilst taking a bath - so picturesque and peaceful - with the bell tower chiming out. The shower was separate - and quite small but just about enough room to manouver. Me and my partner are quite long limbed - so sometimes banged my elbow or what not - but it was fine, and the shower itself was veru good and powerful. The toiletries were lovely - I do really take my own toiletteries as I am quite pciky - but these ones were very high end and smelt beautiful. The towels were fine as far as towels go in hotels. They weren't ultra fluffy but neither were they thread bare - just normal white towels that did the job. The views from this room over the Bruge rooftops and skyline was fantastic and I would have been disappointed had we not had these amazinf views - the full length windows opened up to a beautiful view. Very peaceful. Request a room at the top if you want amazing views. Little touches like the turn down and the chocolates left on your pillow for when you get back from your evening out along with the next days weather forecast were lovely. The bed was comfy and the sheets were soft. The only problem we had really with the room was that because of the river being so close by in the summer months when its humid the mosquitos get in if you open your windows. There is air-con, but I personally prefer natural fresh air to keep me cool - just be warned that you may get alot of bites - as I did! All over my face. Not impressed with my honeymoon look. I think the hotel do provide a plug in to ditract mosquitos, but we couldn't find this, and as we were only there for two nights there wasn't alot else we could do. Keep your windows shut at night to avoid bites is what I recommend. But don't let this put you off this beautiful hotel - mosqitos would get you where ever you stay.
We had the uber expensive champagne breakfast on both mornings. We said we woul treat ourselves on the first morning as it was our honeymoon, but it was soooo good we just had to have it again on the 2nd morning, Really not that bad in price as it was 22euros each, BUT it was that filling and you could eat as much as you wanted, that you really don't need to stop for lunch then - it sets you up for the day just right. There was loads of choice too - museli, toast, jams, breads, coissants, fruit, chocolates - not to mention the amazing choice of how would you like your eggs - they cook them on the aga in the room you are eating in to your exact taste. Really lovely start to the day. Also theres the glass of champagne, and then theres fruit juices etc. Really recommend pushing the boat out and having the breakfast for at least one morning.
The location couldn't be any better - it is smack bang in the heart of Bruge- but perfectly hidden down a little cobbled side street - so although it is only feet away from the hustle and bustle - it is still peaceful, secluded and quiet - perfect for us in way of location. Right next to the river for boat trips, and lots of bars and restaurants near by. Just another note - two nights in Bruge is plenty to see and do what it has to offer. It is a beautiful quaint place but doesn't have an awful lot to see and do - two nights was completely sufficient for us to be leisurely but get everything done and seen. On location alone, this hotel is fabulous - the rooms are small and pretty, and very clean and if you get a top floor room the views are outstanding. We visited in summer, but can imagine this hotel becomes even more cosy in the winter months as it has a lovely log fire in the public seating area downstairs, and the mini bar area is reminiscent of a 1920's exquisit wine bar. Although the hotel is on the expensive side - it is worth it for a special treat or ocassion.

Room Tip: Ask for a Ralph Lauren Junior room on the top floor - stunning views.
