“Romantic luxury in magical city”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

I have always wanted to visit Brugge and I knew when I did I wanted to stay in a romantic hotel close to the historical sights and canals. After a lot of research I found The Pand Hotel and booked it immediately. As a travel agent, I am always looking for hotels not only for myself but for my clients and this hotel is my #1 choice. My husband and I stayed in Room 108 a Ralph Lauren Junior suite which was above my expectations. The room was filled with beautiful antigues, a canopy bed, fireplace, a Jacuzzi tub and Hermes bath products. This in itself was over the top but add to that excellent customer service. From the minute we checked in till our check out the staff went above and beyond to assist you. The hotel manager even assisted me with booking train tickets and printing them out for me. Restaurant suggestions were excellent and they arranged our early departure with taxis, luggage pick up and wake up call. Breakfast at the hotel was a nice treat. It is delicious and served in the most elegant manner by an excellent wait staff. It is something I might not do every morning but it is a must for at least one of the days you are there. As for the rest of the hotel it is beautiful and so cozy. It feels like a home away from home. This hotel is definitely worth its rating of Small Luxury Hotel of the World.

We spent a few nights in this fantastic hotel. The hotel has a very personal and luxury feel to it. The service from check in to check out was excellent. The room was large and spacious, spotlessly clean and luxurious.
Top tip - try the breakfast, they cook the eggs in front of you on the AGA, time from stove to plate is literally seconds.
We look forward to returning, hopefully this Christmas.

Charming small hotel with outstanding friendly staff, especially the service at the breakfast. Spacious junior suit (#107) for two with separate bathroom and toilet. Room view is at the back side of the hotel, looking into a small inner garden and roofs over Brugge, quite and peaceful hearing the water splashes of the little fountain. Room can feel a bit stuffy if its warm outside, luckily sufficient windows to get some fresh air or airco available. Very petit balcony, stand only max 2p

Guest with large luggages please note the elevator is very small, fits 2 ppl without luggage.

Pro's
- Charming bedrooms, each has its own classy design
- Comfy beds, good stream in jacuzzi bath tub, double sink, iron available, twice a day room cleaning
- Charming breakfast room with fabulous breakfast table service e.g. choices in how you like your egg prepared, fresh bread, fresh mix fruit, muesli, tea pot, juices (unfortunately not fresh), daily different slice of cheese and a glass of champagne to start your festive day
- Lovely big flower bouquet can be ordered for in the bedroom
- Charming cosy lobby
- Complimentary apples at the lobby
- Perfect location
- Public car park Pandreitje, 2min walk €9/24hrs

Con's
- Room cleaning, toilet paper and shower/shampoo are not being filled up adequately
- Hot water was not available for late night shower, appears the water boiler failed working (just one night during our week stay) and heard some airco in the other bedrooms didn't work well ~ guess goes with an old house or bad maintenance
- Instead of having duvets they have woolen blankets covered with bed sheets
- Missing complimentary toothbrush, shaving razor (in most 4* and up these amenities are provided in the room)
- Shower stream not strong enough and yellow stain in shower cabin

For those who don't like having pets around, don't choose this hotel. Guests can bring their pets. Personally i don't like it especially at the breakfast room but my choice on this hotel is due to its charming design and good reviews. Luckily the spaces are clean enough and my asthma didn't get worser. I would definitely consider staying here again and hope they will upgrade their maintenance and room comfort to luxury hotel standards

Dear Sir
Dear Madam

Thank you for your thorough and kind review. We are glad you appreciated the charm, breakfast, location and the services of our hotel and staff.
We noticed that you stayed in August 2013, which is quite a while ago.

In the past year, we have made a lot of improvements to the hotel, such as investing in new duvets and pillows to upgrade the sleeping comfort of our guests. We have chosen for a well known Belgian top quality brand, so I'm sure you would appreciate the changes.

A total renovation of three of our luxury Jr Suite in which we installed wooden floors; ideal for asthma patients.
Also the amenities in the bathrooms have been changed. And for any items our guests feel that are missing, we are always ready at reception to respond to any request.

Concerning the hot water, we would like to apologize for the inconvenience, but it has been too long ago to check if there was a technical problem during your stay.
This is for sure not a frequent problem, and no longer existing today.

We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to your home in Bruges, and that you can enjoy the improvements that we have put in place.

Kindest regards,
Katelijne Haelters

Enjoyed a really comfortable stay in this beautiful hotel. It's not huge but the high standards employed here are everywhere to see. It is also in a perfect location, being adjacent to probably the best view in Bruges and close to some very decent restaurants. Even though breakfast was not included in the price of our short break, it was worth paying the extra to experience what any hotel breakfast should be like .. excellent service, beautiful food and lovely ambience. You even get your scrambled eggs cooked in front of you on the Aga ! All in all a fabulous hotel in one of my favourite cities. We will be back !

This hotel is located about thirty steps and across a street from a canal on a quite, plane tree lined street. A perfect location. They provide information for a number of pleasant sight seeing walks as well as a free guided walking tour. The rooms and facilities are beautiful, clean, and functional. In room mini-bar, jacuzzi, tv, etc. No coffee pot. Breakfast not included and overpriced for us. Excellent breakfasts available at several restaurants surrounding the Markt. Highly recommend this hotel. Beautiful.

Room Tip: The Burberry is excellent.

Dear Sir
Dear Madam

Thank you very much for staying with us and for posting this kind review! I am happy to read that you enjoyed the location, our guided city tour and your overall experience at the Pand.
Breakfast is indeed not included in the rate but according to Bruges hotel standards the breakfast is certainly not overpriced for what we offer : A full waiter service Champagne breakfast with a large range of fresh juices, hot drinks, roll, buns and bread, assortments of the finest charcuterie and cheese, fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, raspberry coulis and our pride is to bake the eggs according to the guests’ wishes on the AGA stove. To make breakfast a real treat, it comes with a glass of Champagne...

Of course you can find lots of places to have a breakfast in town but our guests really get a lot of value for money if they choose to have it here. It is really part of the PAND Hotel experience.

We hope we may have the pleasure of welcoming you again at the Pand and hope you will try breakfast next time, so we can convince you of the quality of our products.

Kind regards

This lovely boutique hotel just yards from the (overly) busy centre of the city offered a very attentive and comfortable stay
The room was beautifully furnished, large and comfortable (one of the junior suites). Being a small hotel one got to know the staff in the time that we were there, all of whom were extremely friendly pleasant and very helpful. Finally, I don't normally do breakfast but these were fabulous - fruit, bread and pastries, cheese and meats and eggs cooked any way you wanted. All washed down with a glass of champagne.
Future places we stay will have a lot to live up to and it will be a reference point for many years to come!
Thank you to all the friendly and helpful staff

Stayed at Pand for 4 nights in May, in "Provence"room. Cozy does not even begin to describe it! Feels more like a b&b than a hotel, although the second "b" was not included in our price. We did take advantage of the lovely common room, the quaint bar room, and fairly nice back yard.

At first, we thought we must have been given the smallest room in the place, but then saw the room across from us was exactly the same. It was so small and stuffed with furniture, we asked to remove one of the armchairs to gain some space to open the suitcase. In all honesty, could do without the second armchair and side table as well. And we were impressed how much was squeezed into the narrow bathroom space!

The pillows and duvet are made with synthetic stuffing, I could barely breath and woke up in a pool of sweat despite the A/C blasting. I requested for the duvet to be taken away and just be given a sheet so I could use it with the lighter blanket that was in the closet. After a data of back and forth with the staff, the service took away the duvet, but left us no sheets... The desk attendant was very apologetic and fetched one from the back room.

We also asked for a recommendation for a nearby restaurant to grab a bite, nothing touristy, a simple place the desk clerk as a local would go. The place we were directed to, Christoff's, was sold as just a "brasserie", but turned out expensive even by Brugge standards... I don't see the desk clerk dining there, except maybe on a very special occasion...

Other than that, the staff was nice and helpful in other conversations, especially the intern girl.

Would I stay here again? The location can't be beat, steps away from the postcard perfect view of the Tower. Probably, but only when I can afford the Ralph Lauren suite...

Thank you so much for choosing to stay with us and for taking the time to post this review on TripAdvisor.

I am happy to read that you enjoyed the services of our team as well as our top location.

Hotel The Pand, a typical carriage house was built in the late 18th century so when the property was fully restored, it was decided to stay true to the era of the building. As in a home, each room reveals its own décor in which every detail matters. The smaller Charming rooms are decorated with elegant fabrics and antique furniture to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Apparently to your taste there was a bit too much furniture in your room but according to legislation concerning star qualification, we are obliged to have a side table/desk and two chairs.

Since more and more guests suffer from allergies we decided to choose synthetic fillings for our duvets and pillows, though from a very renowned and luxury brand. Feather pillows are also available on request. We are very sorry for the misunderstanding about the duvet but as you wrote in your review as soon as we heard about the problem we instantly solved it for you.

Bistro Christophe is a bistro where a lot of people from Bruges go to. Since Bruges is a very touristy city and you asked a local restaurant we thought it would be an ideal restaurant for you. Eating out in Bruges is expensive and even the most simple restaurants charge rather high prices, as a local we are used to these rates. Bistro Christophe serves starters between €8 - €22 and main courses between €18 - €26, which is average and reasonable for Bruges standards. Maybe we should have informed you better in advance of the average eating prices in our town to avoid unpleasant situations.
We all hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again with the sense of dedication that makes our reputation, and I can ensure you that we will find the perfect Ralph Lauren Jr Suite for you, one you will consider your home away from home.
