“Classic hotel, classic experience”
Reviewed 14 July 2011

I came to Brugge like many after watching the movie 'In Brugge', and although this hotel isn't right in the heart of the city centre it's just outside which gives it plenty of positives. We were arriving by car so Parking was pivotal to us, the hotel was luckily just opposite a massive underground parking lot which cost us next to nothing, I think it was 8 euros per 24 hours!

Just a short walk and your in the historic heart of Brugge, don't be fooled by the map, this hotel is just a stone throw away from all the main attractions.

My first impression when I walked in was that this was the kind of place you'd want to be in when visiting a place like Brugge. The design was very classic, almost museum-ish to a certain extent, but just right.

The hotel staff were very welcoming and we noticed a great offer that they had on the counter, we were able to upgrade our room to a Twin Double for just 20 euros!

The room was nice and spacious, but the cleanliness was sometimes not perfect. One of the pillows had a strange stain on it, and the carpet wasn't the best it could be. But you would expect that for this kind of design, there wasn't much modernism going on, and the light in the room was not great. But we had two queen size beds and a real cool espresso machine! I'd reckon a little bit of maintenance would really do alot for this place, many aspect of our stay felt quite five star-ish!

The hotel had free wifi in the room, which was brilliant.

All in all I would recommend this for slightly older couples or friends looking for a spacey hotel with a chilled out vibe, the kind of vibe people come to experience in Brugge in the first place!

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in July as our base for visiting Bruges. We couldn't be happier with our decision. We arrived by train from Brussels, and it was a short taxi ride away (cost about 7 euros) to the hotel. As soon as we walked into the hotel, we were impressed by the decor and the surroundings. Our room was ready upon arrival, a lot earlier than official check-in time. Our room was very nicely decorated, and very spacious with a large desk, two armchairs and a small coffee table, the bed was 2 twins pushed together but the overall size seemed to make it a kingsize. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom well equipped with a bathtub and large mirror.

There is an indoor swimming pool onsite at this hotel, as well as a small patio area with a few loungers. We actually did have a change to use both, and it was very nice.

The hotel is a short 10-15 minute walk from the centre of Brugges, so fairly well located. The restaurant is a bit pricey, so we ate elsewhere. Bruges is a beautiful city - be prepared for a lot of walking!

NH Brugge is perfectly located, about half way between the train station, and the city centre. The city is small enough that it is easy to walk everywhere, even from the station.

The hotel is lovely. We had a spacious twin room (as requested). The staff were friendly and helpful.

On check in you get a map of the city, and a discount card, which we used at 5 different places,

The pool is in the centre of the hotel, which we thought may be a bit impersonable, but we didn't have time to swim so can't officially comment.

Breakfast was quoted at 21Euros, could be discounted to 15Euros. But there are plenty of bakerys and cafes to enjoy delicious Belgium food. Alot of shops aren't open at all on Sunday's, and those that do are certainly not open before 10am.

Stayed at NH in Bruges quite a few times. It used to be a Sofitel. but was bought by the Spanish owned NH Group a few years ago. It is in a great location and the staff are very helpful. Overall its not as good as it was when it was a Sofitel. The breakfast is very average with almost zero service, the bedrooms remain way too dark and you get budget level toileteries with the smalles bar of soap you will ever see. The NH purchasing department must have them specially made. A triumph of cost saving over customer satisfaction. But if you pre-book with a non-cancellation rate teh hotel is very good value.

Only spent one night in hotel and did not eat there but enjoyed it very much. We had a very good deal for a deluxe room which was large and very comfortable. The bed was so comfy it was hard to get out of in the morning!

If you book the room early, there is quite a discount, which is worth having. Rooms are well appointed, we had a coffee maker, the room seemed sound proofed with a large bathroom.

When we entered the room it did smell smoky which was disappointing but the staff immediately cleaned the room and with the windows open the smell seemed to go. There was no smoking in the hotel though.

The staff were friendly and helpful. There is a very nice pool and garden in the hotel . It is in a good location in a beautiful city and near to restaurants and bars. There is a market place outside the hotel and bus station. It is also close to the train station. There is a problem with parking but the underground car park is very close by. I imagine this is a general issue in Bruges.

What a lovely city for a break, like France but without the attitude! Very friendly and lots of places to go, things to see. Only 90 min max from the Chunnel. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: book early on the NH site.

We stayed at this hotel last weekend and everything about the trip was perfect. Great location and we managed to get a good deal. Rooms were quite big and the bed very comfortable. Some parts of the bathroom could have doen with attention, but nothing too serious. The breakfast was €15 extra, but was very good. We were worried about parking, but the hotel is right next to the main city underground car park and this only cost €17 for the weekend.

All in all I would recommend.

We had a good deal and it was really a decent hotel. Ok, not the modern and trendy hotels we are used to but everything was working and fine. The personnel there was really working for a 4 star hotel, so really friendly with good service!!!

Breakfast was not elaborate, but was decent and good enough.

Room Tip: Deluxe room was a good choice!
